If he did I promise it wouldn't be getting any Golden Rasberry awards or whatever they are called.

Considering the themes of his other movies it'd probably be a Megatron Origin adaptation of sorts.

A Megatron origin story would be very interesting. Something similar to the Prime animated could be a delight to watch on screen. How Megatron and Optimus were partners and friends before they became enemies.

Honestly, I'd pay to see it. We all know how Blomkamp loves his mecha, and he'd be able to give the movie a decent theme, no matter how in-your-face it is. The only real blemish on his record I can think of is Elysium, and even then it's not a horrible movie.

Neil Blomkamp isn't really a Hollywood director. At least according to Neil Blomkamp that is.

Neil Blomkamp has a very specific, gritty style that clearly show off his South African roots (even in Elysium, which doesn't take place there but does in a place with a similar 'slum' society).

I'm open to anyone taking Transformers into a new direction as I think I've had enough of Bay's take by now - I'd love to see somebody take it into a completely new and fresh direction. But I'm not sure Blomkamp would be the person of my choice.

By the way, I can't help but feel this: every time a new big budget action/scifi movie comes out we get the same 'should director X do Transformers?', just replacing the director with whoever is hot at that moment. It's...amusing, I guess.

I honestly don't want him to direct. I haven't really cared for his movies....yet.

Sharlto Copley however should totally be in a Transformers movie.

Neil Blomkamp's Transformers movie would likely have an R-rating and contain a not-very-subtle political message.

It would be exponentially better than anything Bay could ever come up with.

    That's my feeling.

But as much as I like Blomkamp, I'm not sure that he would be the best choice. Better, certainly, but not the best.

Well, they'd probably be located to South Africa, and humans would be infected with some Cybertronian virus that would start to turn them metal and robotic.

I remember when I saw Shia in Chicago with that 'grapple glove' when they were filming Starscream's 'finest moment,' I thought DOTM was going to have some sort of virus, and Sam was beginning to become metal.

    Same.

I just want new takes on TFs again. I feel like everything outside the comics is so stale.

I'd watch it, sure. Would Paramount or Hasbro ever go for him as a director? I doubt it.

Neil Blomkamp is one of my top picks for to direct a live action Transformers. With all honesty I must say a
a sequel to District 9 is what I'm looking forward to in the future.

His whole thing is class warfare. He hamfistedly hammers it into his projects non-stop with all the subtlety of a Grizzly Bear attack. So he could potentially be great for TF. He would be perfect for an IDW-style, pre-war Cybertron movie.
