I was just thinking about how galvatron as a character could be expanded upon in the next movie, then it got me thinking....galvatrons body is composed of programmable matter which ultimately the consciousness of megatron controls considering he is the lynchpin in the network of drones who are themselves programmed to look how they do and appear mindless with out galvatrons input.....i wonder if galvatron also has the ability or possibly develop the ability to dictate the forms of any remaining drones and even program a personality into them.....just wondering where the decepticons may come from if they are to appear in the next movie....any other thoughts???

 

I expect that any new Decepticons that appear in TF5 will either come from outer space, or just appear out of nowhere.

Edit: That said, I wouldn't be against some surviving drones being the new main Decepticons. Stinger was pretty bad ass for a drone. As for whether Galvatron could program personalities into them, since when did movie Decepticons get personalities? At least if they were drones they'd have a reason to be bland.

 

That's one problem I've had with the Bay movies. The Decepticons have no personality practically. If their names aren't Megatron, Starscream, or Soundwave, they're pretty much snarling robots. That's the problem I had with Shockwave in DOTM. He had such potential and it was wasted. That being said, I agree with soundwaverulls. If there are any Cons in the next film they'll either come from space or out of no where. But hopefully we'll actually get a backstory on them and where they came from (like what planet), but you never know.

 

I can think of some:

It's possible a few KSI drones escaped, but if so just a couple would have.

There may be a few Decepticons that survived DOTM and Lockdown and company's hunts. I think it would be cool if there was a particularly tough Decepticon that hated humans with a passion as a result of the events of the last few films.

There may be some space-faring Decepticons that come to Earth or pursue Optimus on his journey.

Maybe there are some that are prisoners on the Knightship that, intentionally or not, get set free. The Creators may have tons of Decepticons and Autobots as prisoners for all we know. I do think it would be cool if Galvatron took control of the Knightship and used it to gather any remaining Decepticons among various star systems.

About the characterization, I think we need just a few Decepticons to interact with Galvatron. Keeping them low in number would help tremendously. Just like the low number of Autobots in AOE have a great chemistry, I think similar scenes of interaction for the Decepticons would work great.

 

My biggest wish for TF5 is that Galvatron doesn't have his "powers", and that he actually transforms rather than the stupid morphing stuff. Or, if they keep the morphing, that they at least attempt to make it look cooler.

 

I see what you mean about powers i actually did just mean about his ability to control the transformium. I think that the way he transforms will change slightly due to the fact he is no longer connected to ksi programs....but i do hope that if he does retain that way of transforming then its just him with it....i personally would love to see galvatron try to program some remaining drones into new decepticons in an attempt to recreate some of his old team..

But instead ends up creating cyclonus scourge etc as a kind of continuity regarding the arrival of galvatron, they have already bypassed unicron in favour of the AOE plot so they may as well head down this route or something similar if they were to salvage as much credibility from it as possible

I can just see Galvatron just adsorbing all his KSI followers to become a giant Galvatron or something.

I mean really, as stupid as the Transformium style Transformers people think they are, they have potential to be crazy dangerous.

 

I'd be flabbergasted if they brought Cons like Scourge and Cyclonus in and not giving them the respect they deserve. I mean i don't know anything about em but it seems like alot of people would be pissed if they got killed so easily. As for Galvatron and the KSI bots, I could truly see the KSI bots being used to become Briticus and as for Galvatron he'll probably use his powers to assert his dominance over the Cons. People really fail to realize how dangerous this new transformation can be.

 

Predacons...hmmm...explains the rather earthly nature of the predacons...lets see

Regardless, any new cons with be non character cannon fodder or new faces for primes collection

Good idea, but I'm hoping to see some prisoners on both sides trapped on the Knightship.

 

I think Cyclonus will happen in the next movies for sure.

Though I'm sure he won't be half as cool as his IDW incarnation.

 

I'm guessing characters like Scourge and Cyclonus could just come from space. Signals take a while to travel and if they were far off when they received a message about Earth it could have taken a while to get here. Yes movie logic skips over details like distance since you'd need a way to break light speed to get to Earth in the time some robots have, but it's sort of the default reason why all the Autobots didn't arrive at once so it seems it should work for Decepticons.

Just not holding my breath on Decepticons being actual characters. Seems like there have been far too many Decepticons where you could learn more about them from the back of the toy packaging than from watching the films.

Worried power creep might be an issue as well for having Decepticons as a creditable threat. As the heroes get more and more powerful it gets harder and harder to have film villains that feel like a real threat. Not really helped that the Decepticons always need to gain some sort of McGuffin to win instead of being the sort of villains that could just kill off the heroes all on their own. So I guess we can throw in what the McGuffin will be this time?

 

Cyclonus and Scourge could be leading their own private army of Decepticons, so when they show up on Earth figuring Megatron is dead, Galvatron shows up and exerts his rule over them. That, or there could be infighting that could factor into the plot somehow.

 

I'd love to see a scene of robots in space receiving Optimus's messages he keeps sending every goddamn movie.

 

Don't necessarily care for backstory. Just give them personalities and have them speak..and not in that BS cybertronian language!!
Whoever takes over this franchise next..I hope they get it right.
