so, i have some little questions about some little things that are AOE related that cant really figure out. 1. is Darcy Joshuas ex? the fat guy asked it and i thought that it was just for humor but is it officially established that she actually is his ex. her main bio on tfwiki, which isnt exactly an iron testament but can only be edited my site mods, says she is his ex, so is that wrong or was it actually established. 2. just after optimus kills lockdown, tessa asks shane "you still happy we met?". this seems like an odd line to say. was there a line from shane at some other point in the movie where he says something along the lines of regretting or questioning their relationship or something. 3. on sideswipes tfwiki page, after the DOTM entry, there is one under the title Age of Extinction Topps Europe collector cards. there is only one sentence in the section which reads as follows, "Sometime after the battle of Chicago, Sideswipe was hunted down and killed by Cemetery Wind. Optimus Prime and the reunited Autobots later learned of his death via the KSI Drone, and mourned him." what is this, is this real and how does a card game show that? i just want to understand this a bit more. thanks to anyone who can answer these
I'm not sure on the first one, lol. I've noticed that some of the dialog seems a bit off in AoE, like maybe stuff was cut between shots that should have been left in, or some earlier scenes were cut. I noticed the dialog between Ratchet and Savoy seemed oddly cut too. It's not in your face noticeable, but if you listen carefully, it doesn't quite sound like their responses go together for a minute. I actually made a thread a while back about Sideswipe. I believe Hasbro said everything in the movieverse is canon, even comics, books and whatnot, so technically Sideswipe is canonically dead, but I doubt that will hold much weight if they decide to bring him back. It's nice to see that Hasbro gave us a little info though.
1. I think it's safe to say that Darcy is his ex. 2. Honestly I don't really find this line to far off, not as much as lines like Hound's "Please pull it", when drift had a sword at him. 3. May forever be a mystery.
1. I think it's implied she's his ex, but like most stuff in the film, they're not going to spend a lot of time talking about it. Speaking of out-of-nowhere lines, the one that confused me the first time was when He decides to get the seed out of the city, she goes, "I'm proud of you," before running off. It took a few more viewings to realize that she was saying she was proud he was doing something that seemed to count, after his dirty dealings. 2. I just felt that was a throwaway line, because you had to give the young romantic couple their sunset-laden kiss while everyone else is distracted. 3. I just took the word of the Autobots when they were hiding. If they're "all that's left, then that's that."
1. I think that although it wasn't established explicitly via dialogue, she is his ex. Just the way they talk to, look at and bicker with each other, there's more there than just employer/employee banter. She likely wouldn't have said she's proud of him for siding with the Autobots had she just been an acquaintance of his. 2. Just all the crap and running from Cemetery Wind, and fighting giant alien robots....I think that's what prompted her question to him. She chose to go with the Autobots to Hong Kong, and she's asking him, essentially "With all the crap you've been though now, are you still glad we met?" 3. That's the only AOE related ANYTHING that gave us an explicit version of Sideswipe's fate, and it was in a European collector card pack, if I recall. It may be canon, it may be a micro-continuity (like some on-package bios seem to be sometimes), but unless explicitly confirmed by Hasbro, Bay, or Ehren Kruger (he did write AOE, right?), it should be assumed that Dino, Topspin, Roadbuster and Sideswipe are dead, because of Drift's line 'We are all that is left." We just don't know how they died. Something that relatively obscure is conjecture.
I haven't rewatched the film since I saw back in theatres last June. I don't remember Darcy being implied Joshua's ex though that could explain some things. I'm glad Sideswipe is dead.
While we're on the topic of "lines that seem to have no context": Can someone please explain the whole "Who we are and why we are here" theme? Prime says that twice: 1. Before they roll out with the Dinobots 2. In his message to the creators When was that a topic? Am I missing something? And apparently they "carry those answers inside" whatever that means...
1. Its implied, yes. 2. Well, he never did ask to be made a fugitive of the government, so I could understand if he did. 3. Sideswipe's dead. Nothing more to say.
that's is an interesting way to put it because we, the audience, already knew that ratchet and leadfoot were dead, but the autobots didnt know about that until seeing the footage of it and spying on KSI, and it is heavily hinted that all the autobots were all seperated so they may just be making the assumption based on their situation and that fact that no other autobots answered primes call. now given the mood and situation it is likely that they are dead, but logically it is just as likely that they are not, which may have been a "back door" by the writer too be used if they wanted to bring guys like sideswipe or mirage back. i know this is an argument that has been done over an dover but just stating my view on it. fruit for thought
I'm curious of the line Optimus says after killing lockdown. He says "honor until the end."What the hell does that mean, especially in context?
I have the collector card in question (will try and take a photo if people want to see it) that addresses Sideswipes death and did mention it aaages ago somewhere on here. It's from the Topps 2014 Transformer Collector Card set which was released here (in HK). The way I read the card it is pretty clearcut that Sides is dead. I can't help but wonder if there was supposed to be a scene in AoE to confirm this which was deleted/never rendered. Seems odd to find his death mentioned in the cardset but never referenced anywhere else. You'd figure the cards were written based on specific source material and approved by Hasbro.
