Maybe Bay just decided to use one of the moviemakers who was already working for him instead of hiring an extra for that scene

But real football is far more popular. A 'soccer' ball would have been more realistic, a basketball also.

American Football is not a major sport outside of North America.

When you think about it American style football is so resource intense that it's no wonder it's not as popular as sports that just require a ball and couple of home made goals or nets.

Basketball or soccer pretty easy to set up a game in even resource poor areas so millions and millions of kids have a chance to play. A few players and one ref has you good to go.

But to properly play American football you need pads and helmets for all the players. You need offensive players, defensive players, special teams players, and extra players if someone get hurt. One or two refs for basketball and soccer while American football needs lots of refs. Ouch and that regulation sized goal post isn't the easiest thing for every play ground to have.

What's so special about that? I mean, in Germany American Football is probably also not so popular, but yet we have clubs who play American Football. One of the more popular ones is Frankfurt Galaxy. Why shouldn't such thing also be in China? You can also buy chinese stuff here.

Oh the football death. Personally I feel that it is one of the worst movie deaths I ever have seen.

So this is outlandish yet we all have rooms full of imported toys that cost drastically more tan a football does.

Sure they can. They just prefer to play it with soccer balls
