"Open....DAMINT open!" Soo much better than bb "pissing" on a guy or a transforming rc truck humping a leg. I Never could watch unsolved mysteries without picturing ultra magnus standing there...talking about missing or murdered autobots haha.

Can I take my vote back? I thought the first option was for the 86 animated movie - obviously I wasn't paying attention. That is the best Transformers movie. If the four live-action movies were deleted from history, I would not be sad.

Only if you watch ROTF 3 times in one day.

If the 1986 movie was an option (which it probably should be going off the thread title), I'd vote for it.

But as far as the Bay movies go, DOTM wins my vote for having the most interesting story. It has a pretty healthy balance of human and TF screen time vs ROTF and the first movie. Of course, AOE capitalized on robot screen time by a good margin, but it's story was pretty weak. Dotm features plenty death, destruction and betrayal to let you know that the decepticons aren't here to play around.

I'm sorry, is the thread title the question or the poll the question?

I want to say 1986 but that wasn't an option so I voted for AoE. There isn't really a best of the franchise, just a least horrible movie.

Sorry guys, but the best part of that movie was up until the moment they killed Starscream. After that it went downhill.

The '86 movie is the best. That really should be an option. However, out of the list I'd go with '07. It's lack of transformers is at least excusable. I'm still accepting the excuse that the transformers weren't heavily used because of the cost of cgi and the fear that the movie might bomb.

There's no competition. In the 86 movie, Prime died a hero. His actions affected not only the rest of the movie, but also had lasting consequences. Whereas in the Bay films, death is treated as a minor inconvenience as long as there's a magic macguffin. If your name is either Optimus or Bumblebee, you're basically immortal. Tension, what's that?

Even if that were true, good god the awesomeness proceeding it is enough alone to make it better than any of the Bay movies.

Which is sad, because while I maintain that '86 is a competent movie masking commercialism with genuine heart, it should be easily topped by ANY movie with a budget in the $200 million dollar range and a length rivaling the Godfather. Alas, however, this is not the case...

AOE had soul compared to the other live action movies.

    YouTube (Custom URL):
Maybe there's tension in the villain's plans and goals? Oh wait, silly me, I forget that was nonexistant in the Bay series either. Let me sum up Megatron's roles in the movies in single lines:

-"Haha, I'm free, and now I'll tear Jazz in half and die now!"
-"I'm alive, so now I'll worship The Fallen, loose part of my face and run away!"
-"I'm in Africa, I work for Sentinel, and then I loose my head and die!"
-"I didn't die actually, I'll make a body, throw two punches and exit stage left!"

What possible tension that could have been fixed with a good villain isn't there because he doesn't do anything, resulting in other villains having to take the center stage. Problem is, it's become a cycle. Now all these new villains are promised to be on Death Row, and Megatron still stays in the back. And when he dies, he just comes right back like it's no big deal. But where is the fear of a villain returning, when there is nothing to fear about him because there isn't a reason to?

Hell, even in the first movie, I can make an argument that Frenzy was the main villain of the film, not Megatron.

the 86 movie is the only one of them i would actually call a good movie.

the rest are not really transformers movies. they're human movies, guest starring transformers as product placements.

If money wasn't an obstacle I'm confident the Tansformers characters would've been more than just a product placement.

that was the most difficult choice man, because 3 and 4 are so amazing because DOTM has the epic last hour and the emotional death of ironhide (in the comics also the twins) but AOE has the emotional ratchet death, the escape from cemetery wind, autobots reunite, KSI raid, lockdowns ship and DINOBOTS and finally lockdown vs optimus so in the end I had to go with AOE but it was very close.

p.s someone give ROTF some love I mean the twins (YEA I LIKE THEM SO WHAT), the final battle is cool and optimus vs 3 decepticons (I know he died but it was still cool).
