Wow, everything's tied at 20 right now, I guess I'll break it, lol! Honestly, I don't know. I'm not a huge JJ Abrams fan, he seems like a nice guy, and that he cares about making good Star Wars films, but he doesn't seem like the best director to me, or more appropriately, I'm not a huge fan of his style. As said, he cares about making Star Wars, but I don't know how much he cares about Transformers, which seems to be part of Michael Bay's problem.
I was genuinely suprised at the lack of faith in Abrams directing. To me he just seems to go from strength to strength, and I'm sure Star Wars will be an AAA quality movie. But it's been an eye opener and an interesting read to see people's thoughts to the contrary.
But then he has a mastery of tone. I mean, the guy knows how to elicit the exact emotion he wants from an audience at the drop of the hat. The larger stories at play don't play to that strength because he's more interested in the reveal than legit, visceral, in the moment conflict and stakes. As long as he's not a story guy, he'd do great. Even scripting, he'd do fine, he's just not great with the broader strokes of narrative. Michael Bay on the other hand... What can he do? He's a startlingly inept filmmaker.
maybe, only because i find lens flares to be slightly less annoying than an overabundance of explosions
I wasn't being serious, matey. Just thought I'd get that blatantly obvious response out of the way before anyone who actually believed it utilized it.
Star Wars movies divested of the mythological conceit that layers Star Wars with depth, so basically generic flashy blockbusters.
