If Peter Berg took over for TF 5 (especially on recommendation by Bay) how would people feel about that? With or without Kruger?
That's such an odd thought. (is this seriously suggested?) I don't think Peter Berg is an especially great director, and yet he's much better than Bay. If he was able to do the visual effects/robot characters well it would be an improvement. Ehren Kruger- I just looked over his filmography to see if he's part of the problem or just a victim of Bay. There's a lot of bad films there, including one of Terry Gilliam's worst, and none that stand out as being good. I'd say he's contributing nothing of any value. Ok, the ring was good- but it was a pretty straightforward remake of a great japanese movie.
Berg was basically forced to do Battleship just so he could do his own movie, so I won't hold that movie against him since that movie was never going to be great. The Rundown was a really fun action movie, Hancock had a really good first half and a much weaker second half, and Lone Survivor was great. He could be good if he wanted to do it.
I don't know, and I don't care. As long as I get to see giant alien robots beat the crap out of each other, I'm good
i guess if mr. berg did took over he will have to reboot the series , cuz new director, new series a fresh start!
I wouldn't be fond of it. Battleship was kind of fun, but it was very forgettable. Lone Survivor was great, though. Aside from that, I can't say I've enjoyed any of his other movies.
^Yay!^ That video's awesome! And the only pseudo Michael Bay worse than actual Michael Bay is Jonathan Liebsman.
While I am not a huge Michael bay fan, watching the video does give me more respect for his unique style. I think the haters should watch the video and understand his style before armchairing his movies. Overall, I think he's the only director that can do Transformers, especially considering that the cartoon was also stylized.
Battleship was GOD AWFUL... A friend took me to see it, and I couldn't take the movie seriously at all.. Why not M. Night Shyamalan, for god sakes he knows how to ruin a movie..
The video straight up said the style was both nothing special and often contrary to the needs of the story. Anyone can do Transformers. Yes, you'd lose the shot by shot complexity, but you'd gain some goddamn tone and cause and effect. Instead of plain old affect.
