While it'll be nice to see a retool of Longhaul - I wish Onslaught was a new design....

He can't be a retool of Longhaul since his vehicle mode is completely different.

Yeah, the toy will still have to be a new mould. Like Evasion Prime was an all new mould.

Once again - sadly, genius has it's limits...
Still - it'll be interesting to see how they try to replicate the shape of the LH bot mode, from the parts of that towtruck...

I don't even want to see how it happens. I'll be okay if he only lasts 2 minutes in the film.

I honestly don't see that. In nearly every continuity there have been different characters with the same body design. Its not like they're doing something completely unheard of just for money saving measures. Besides, he has a lot of differences as well. The claw, the giant gun, the different truck parts, he also looks slimmer.

Still disappointed that its just Long Haul with the 18 wheels on his back.

That's because even in the cartoons and the comics they give these recolors or transformers sharing the same frame time to develop or at least give them a personality. The movies hardly gave any Decepticon that wasn't Megatron, Starscream, Shockwave, Soundwave, or Barricade any lines or screentime outside of snarling and mugging for the camera before exploding into a ball of fire. Let TLK to hopefully buck that trend.

I see your point, but as a Decepticon fan I miss the unique designs.

like bonecrusher having a clone in rotf? or longhaul in dotm? or sideways, grindor/blackout, or brawl, scrapper(3 times), or devastator being a bunch of drones copying the other constructicons as well , oh i forgot, the giant ravage on cybertron at the beginning of dotm, yeah or the overly similar ancient cybertornians during the rotf where the fallen built the star harvester and killed the ancient humans? yeah, ORIGINAL DESIGNS EVERYWHERE
why does people bitch about onslaught not being one, i mean, REALLY? like if he was the FIRST one not being original, since the very first episode of transformers (generation one) to the very last day there will be reused designs, always

I'm bored so I'll tell you why.
Transformers universe has a large array of characters, that stem from the old tv shows or comics. Every character from its origins has at least a few fans.
When a character is copied it takes away it's originality. It's no longer anything special, with character or importance.
LongHaul had a name in TF2, he was part of a constructicon group and died. When you start seeing copies of the same design it takes away any personality The original character might have had. The character like many decepticons, aren't given the respect they deserve.
Nobody would like it if Bumblebee had copies roaming around, or Bumblebee with Jazz parts. That's because there are many fans of Bee.
The same goes with the Decepticons.

While that's a great explanation, which I agree with, are you able to tell me who do you like the best out of the following?

    Prowl, Bluestreak, Silverstreak, or Smokescreen??
    Starscream, Skywarp, or Tundercracker?
    Hoist or Trailbreaker?
    Rumble or Frenzy?
    Inferno or Grapple?
    Etc.

    My favorites are underlined.

I'm loving the screencaps so far- and while some fans might not like the whole knight theme, I think it's a neat cosmetic transition- especially for Prime.

He used to be a humanoid robot with truck parts hanging off of him, but now he looks muscular, and even slightly bio-mechanical from some angles, and in some spots of his body. I think the knight design theme....okay, think of it this way: Would you rather they take the knight design theme, and make a bunch of the bots look like knights, or take the magic/wizard direction, replace all ancient Cybertronian artifacts with some wand-looking thing, or god forbid an actual wand, slap a cape on him, write magic-like symbols all over his body, make Prime into some Harry Potter-ish leader- and go in that direction?

I'm just saying, for those people who don't like the knight theme: It could be much much much much much much much MUCH worse.

(For the record, I like Harry Potter, but if they ever mixed it with TF or took TF in a magic/wizard direction: HELL NO...)

I think we're bound to get some super-cool toys out of the knight design direction, and heck, even look at Megatron: He's always been big, bulky, and intimidating- sure- but now he's got a giant troll/golem-look to him, and that's AWESOME. Well done to whoever's idea that was, because it works- he looks badass.

I like the design transition they've taken- they've gone from humanoid and alien-looking robots with vehicle parts hanging off'em (like tree ornaments) to muscular, more bio-mechanical, armored, recognizable/everyone gets a humanoid robot mode this time around, appealing designs. I think the knight design theme works....I like it, I think they executed it pretty well- and I'm glad we're not getting any crab or squid-like bots this time around, because as cool as they might be on screen: They suck as toys.

Plus, with talks of Bumblebee getting his own spinoff movie later on, I highly doubt Prime ends up killing him. He might severely damage him, but he doesn't kill him- otherwise, why would they be talking about a separate Bumblebee movie? Is he going to be a zombie bot like Cliffjumper? lol

Even so, if they kill Bumblebee, that's like killing Batman or Iron Man or Captain America or any poster character of a super-profitable franchise- they could do it, but it'd be pretty difficult to slide another character into the slot, get people familiar with it, and keep profits where they are- there's no guarantee it would work. Bumblebee's the poster child- they won't kill him off. Unless they've got a character 100 times better than him, that could boost sales and profits to levels they haven't hit yet, that they know- for absolute certainty- will work: Bumblebee won't die.
