Because it wasn't the end of Megatron and that he finally comes off as a credible threat despite not doing much.

    I'll disagree to your post.

Optimus is not a blood thirsty psychopath, if so then a soldier who fights for his country is no different.

I on the other hand enjoy realism taking over fictional films, it worked for Dark Knight and Man of Steel. Transformers Age of Extinction did well in my opinion, the way it reveals how bad the human species can be, as far how money can corrupt and spread diseases in people.
Optimus showing emotion and rage over his discovery of a cold blooded murder of his comrades was nice.

You have your taste for movies and I respect that, I however like the more vivid and darker side of things. I think it's a good strategy to reveal what is true in the world we live in.
And this is why I'll support Neil Blomkamp as the director for the next two films.

I'd be more than okay with this. And Blomkamp is a huge Michael Bay fan, so there's that angle as well.

The guy you quoted has the same opinion on Optimus as you, by the way.

Not to sound stupid but who's Niel Blomkamp? What movies he has directed and is he good?

He directed District 9 and Elysium.

The former is considered a good movie, while the other is more split down the middle with people. I think he's great when it comes to combining visual effects with practical. Never knew he was a Bay fan. That's awesome.

I like what you're saying! Although I do think we kind of went along the same lines. I love the movie Prime, probably one of the bigger defenders of this version of the character and like the more realistic approach to him. I just meant that I like realism to a certain extent to fictional films like these. I just hate when they are so strictly kept to a realistic setting all the time.

Like in Age of Extinction. It has a whole darker side to things with the world and the people in it, but then we have aliens in Lockdown's ship and stuff like that. Its simple, but I like stuff like it. I just dislike when things that are clearly fictional always have to have a real world explanation or be dark and gritty just for the sake of it.

Blame Steven Spielberg for that one. It was conceptualized as being just that, but Steve personally thought it would better for Sam to do it, suggested it to Bay, then Bay changed it.

The game version of the first movie actually uses the original concept of Prime punching the cube into Megatrons chest.

Yeah, I heard it was Spielberg's decision to have the TF movie focus on the humans instead of the Transformers, and Bay wanted the focus on the TFs. I guess that is what happens then Spielberg is the producer.

Well, personally, I'm glad Sam got that moment instead.

It's HIS movie too and Buster/Spike/Sam was always my hero so I was glad to see him REALLY step up like that! LOVE IT.

And thanks for the insight about the game, guys! I'm not much of a gamer so I didn't know anything about that.

It definitely explains the weirdly out-of-place dialogue "You left ME no choice" from Optimus after SAM just did all the hard work for him, lol.

Agreed. It's stuff like that and Cade's wielding of alien weapons in AoE that make humans less annoying...

Even without the game, you could put it down to Optimus referring more to both Megatron's death and the Allspark's destruction, since he was the one who put the idea of jamming a superpower into a robot's heart into Sam's head. Not lamenting his specific role in Megatron's demise, but the fact it had come to that end at all.

Maybe I missed something but I disagre with Zark225's post because he believes Optimus is a raged, blood thirsty psychopath..and I don't.

I don't care what the context is, Prime would be an idiot to accept a truce from the guy who killed him and betrayed him before.

You missed what I was saying. I don't actually think that. I even say in the next sentence that I don't agree with that. Just saying what a lot of people think in a sarcastic way.

That would be Windblade-level naivete, something that is totally inappropriate from anyone who's been fighting as long as Optimus has.
