Also, why make a reboot when there are so many questions unanswered: Who are the creators? where is OP going? Will Galvatron follow him? or will he stay on earth and terrorize the humans? Who will be the shortime leader of the Autobots? Is unicron behind the seed? or are the quintessons? It would be, IMHO, utterly dumb to reboot at this point, and far more people would me angry then mad. If a reboot were to happen, it should have taken place after tf3, or atleast wait after tf5. Not now.

    I don't know.

The Transformers name is pretty much stomped into the ground at this point.

And coming fresh off of a "reboot" (which is more like a we're in the same continuity but we just changed some things that people complained about-boot) I don't think saying that again would win anyone over right now.

Two more movies are planned after this one, so I say let the films run their course and we'll see where we are after that.

Yeah, I'd like a reboot with a creative team that cares about making a movie that goes beyond just being about spectacle. It is entirely possibly to make a big flashy action movie with genuine heart behind it as well. I know it's come up a lot lately, but imagine a Transformers movie that was as all around well received at Guardians of the Galaxy, that would be rad.

Let the dust settle for a few years after TF5/6 before a reboot is even considered though, let's see if Bay, Kruger and co. can remember that they actually meant to set up for a sequel this time and don't just fuck it all off because they came up with a "better" idea and it doesn't matter because "logical sense doesn't have to apply to these kind of movies." Eurgh.
Man, the more I've read on the creative process behind these movies, the more it starts sounding like a bunch of kids just playing with Transformers toys, making up stories as they go, then randomly abandoning whatever loose storyline they had a minute ago in favour of something "cooler" they just thought up instead.
    Hm. How appropriately meta.

Meh. Much as I desperately want one, I don't see a reboot happening anytime soon. Not with the haul these movies are making; it's a steady paycheck to Bay and Kruger, so I doubt we'll ever be rid of them either.

Look at it this way, AOE actually set up a story to follow on. With two films I think, if they tried, they could complete it and make all movies work together.

To successfully reboot, they're going to need to wait a few years between movies. Like...10 or so, probably.

I don't mind the Bayhem but a reboot would be cool, you could get Matthew Vaughn from X-Men:First class and Kick Ass, or JJ Abrams when he's done with Star Wars or the Russos when they're done with Cap 3

This. I don't know if any reboots came just after the first version.

    Ugh, this again?

Ya know, people keep complaining about the lack of TF characterization, but think about the characters that were previously unknown and not really cared for, but are now. Like Barricade and Crosshairs.

    o boy...

a reboot now...while optimus prime just launched off into space is probably the dumbest thing ive heard in quite some time

even changing the director at this point would ruin the series...now maybe you get a good movie out of it but more than likely you'll get a film that's nothing at all like it's predecessors & if that's the point then just wait for a true reboot following TF6

Not quite yet. The Bayverse has gone too far now to leave things hanging. It's still a good foundation for cool shit to happen.

We've had 4 TF movies directed by Bay. They've all made minimal sense and had plenty of sex, violence, had little to no character development. A reboot would mean they would need a new director, screenwriter, cast and crew. Aside from that....probably a new plot.
Will all that happen anytime soon? My magic 8 ball says, "Not likely."

It doesn't look like minor changes and little tweaks are going to bring back the US ticket buyers so without some true reboot sized changes the domestic box office is just going to continue it's downward slide. I kind of get the bad feeling it might be like the Star Trek films where things kept sliding down at the box office but the studio kept going until Nemesis was the nail in the coffin for the film franchise in that form.

I'm sure Hasbro wouldn't mind of major changes as well since it doesn't seem like movie toys go flying off shelves and these experiments with things like one step transformations really aren't filling in the gap when it comes to demand.

Some fans are more than ready for a reboot. With the cartoons if you don't like the current cartoon just hold on for a few more seasons and Hasbro will change things around with a new series. Compared to how long a cartoon series run the live action films have dragged on forever.

But even if a Transformers movie made Expendables 3 type money there would still be fans who would swear that if we could just get one more film in the current continuity that the next film would magically turn everything around, everyone would be happy, and Transformers would be back at the top of the US box office.

Kind of feels like Paramount is stuck in a bad way as well. They just don't have that many mega franchises that can dominate compared to big guns to the titles owned by other studios. And would Paramount dare to risk losing anything at the Chinese box office now that Paramount is so dependent on China they had to use Chinese product placement because China has Paramount by the short hairs.

The Spiderman box office slide also isn't going to do anything for the studio confidence that a reboot can save things. For a Transformers reboot to turn things around it would take an overall great film on all levels not just effects and I'm not sure that Paramount has a truly great film in them right now.

    I'll go with no.

The movie series has a lot of flaws. Incoherent storyline, plot holes, unexplained stuff, unanswered questions, etcetera. They need to fix it, at least try to. At least use TF5 to fix it, if not, TF6.

The series need a definitive ending, and hopefully with this flaws fixed or reduced. And it's too soon for a reboot, Paramount would lose some money if they put one of their most successful monetary-wise aside.
