Judge however you want... personality, vocabulary, mannerisms, apperance, etc. Go from TV or comics or a combo of both. Just take a guess at how old the human equivalent of the G1 characters would be. My guesses:

Optimus - late 30's
Ultra Magnus - early 30's
Bumblebee - 21
Prowl - 40
Jazz - 28
Ironhide - early 60's
Kup - mid 70's
Grimlock - 45
Sideswipe/Sunstreaker - 25
Brawn - 45
Hotrod - 23
Rodimus Prime - 28 (I know he "grew up" in a second, but still...)
Blurr - 22
Springer - 32
Arcee - 28
Wheeljack - 42
Ratchet - 44
Perceptor - 33
Blaster - 25

Megatron - mid 50's
Galvatron - early 30's
Scourge - early 50's
Cyclonus - 40
Starscream - 32
Thundercracker - 36
Skywarp - 28
Soundwave - 45
Rumble - 22
Shrapnel - 33
Bombshell - 42
Kickback - 28

The cassettes seemed younger to me, more like teenagers. Actually kinda like the decepticon junior headmasters in Masterforce.
See the whole collection here.

I'd say both Prime and Magnus are about the same age and in their early 40's. I'd also think that Bumblebee is a teenager (i.e. 16-18, just enrolled in the war). I always figured Jazz & the Seekers to be older, in the same age category as Prime, Magnus, Soundwave, and Prowl.

Lastly, I'd give Megs late 40's to early 50's (not old enough to retire yet, but in Starscream's mind 'yes').

I think Kup is 60s instead of 70s. I know there is not much difference but still.

I'd think Magnus is at least as old as Optimus, possibly the same. I think of him like a grizzled marine NCO. He's a great soldier, but he's just not officer material. He doesn't want to be either.

- Pic adapted from Luis Royo, an amazing artist.

"If your will is not strong, if your thought does not oppose injustice, you will fritter away your life stuck in the commonplace, silently submitting to the bonds of emotion, forever cowering before mediocrities, never escaping the downward flow."

I don't know G1 characters very well, so I don't put my guess here, but I am surprised everyone's guessing is higher than I expected.

As far as I have seen, Japanese fans seem to put the TFs ages much younger.
Another difference,eh.

Yeah like in Galaxy Force Skids and Hop sound like little kids. In Cybertron they sound a bit older.

I would say Ultra Magnusis about 50 because in "Only Human" when a few Autobots were turned in to human Magnus had grey hair.
