IDW Publishing celebrates its 15th anniversary this year ?

IDW Founder Ted Adams Discusses the "Unexpected" Past 15 Years - Comic Book Resources

This adds to my awareness of the celebrations...

    Transformers g1 30 years (1984-2014)

The Punisher 40 years (Amazing Spider-Man 129 cover dated February 1974) Punisher armed with Megatron is, to me, AWESOME!

Shogun Warriors The precursor of Transformers g1 35 years (Shogun Warriors 1 cover dated February 1979)

Uh... The Punisher and Shogun Warriors don't really have all that much to do with Transformers, beyond that the Shogun Warriors were another series of Japanese lines adapted into a different North American story.

That's a pretty tenuous link though, given the amount of toylines with comics at that time, even the use of the term Megatron seems a bit spurious to me because we know from interviews it wasn't an inspiration for G1 Megatron.

    Happy Valentinesday

    Happy Valentinesday on February 14th, to the following couples;

    Spike and Carly
    Inferno and Firestar
    Ironhide and Chromia
    Megatron and Nightbird
    Optimus Prime and Elita 1
    Powerglide and Moonracer
    Springer and Arcee
    Wreck-Gar and Nancy

Wish I knew who the love interests of Windblade and Nautica are, so I could wish them a happy Valentine as well.
I am grateful for their creation, though.
I can incorporate them as troops under the command of Elita 1, who formed one of many factions that were active during the 4.000.000 years that Optimus Prime and his autobots, Megatron and his decepticons, Skyfire and the Insecticons, were all off-line on Earth.

During these 4.000.000 years I envision also that Dion who became Ultra Magnus was in possession of the autobot matrix of leadership. His best friend Orion Pax aka Optimus Prime entrusted it to him before he departed Cybertron, never knowing if his girlfriend Ariel aka Elita-1, was still functional.
Ultra Magnus must have the autobot matrix of leadership so that it makes sense why Optimus Prime does not have it in the episode 'Divide and Conquer'.
Also during this time it is likely that Ultra Magnus and Elita-1 became lovers. Their friend Optimus Prime was lost to them for 4.000.000 years, so it makes sense that Ultra Magnus and Elita-1 comfort each other which led to more.
Thanks to the matrix they were able to oppose the decepticons since it grants wisdom to the bearer, in this case Ultra Magnus. Alpha Trion was around to remind Ultra Magnus and the other autobots (female or otherwise) of this.

    The following FACTIONS are active during the 4.000.000 year gap;

Faction 1: Hot Rod, Springer, Broadside, Smokescreen and their troops. The future Protectobots are among them.
Eventually, during the 4.000.000 year gap, the future Protectobots are captured and their personality components removed from their bodies. These personality components eventually are retrieved by Elita-1 and her troops. When Optimus Prime needs new troops to oppose the Combaticons and their combined form Bruticus, Elita-1 provides him with the personality components which are inserted into the bodies of the Protectobots who combine to form Defensor.
Faction 2: Ultra Magnus, Alpha Trion, Elita-1 and their troops.
Defcon, Powerglide, Moonracer, Inferno, Firestar, Chromia, Windblade and Nautica are among them.
Faction 3: Autobot Commandos future Dinobots

After the 4.000.000 year gap, the future dinobots were taken captive by Shockwave. He destroyed their bodies and then transported their personality components with the Space Bridge to Earth by Megatron's command. They wind up in the autobots possession who use 3 of them to insert in the bodies of Slag, Sludge and Grimlock in the episode S.O.S. Dinobots and the other 2 for the bodies of Swoop and Snarl in the episode War of the Dinobots.
Faction 4: Renegade Decepticons (future Combaticons)
Faction 5: Shockwave and his troops. The Constructicons are among them. Devastator uses Shockwave as a hand gun to take out Omega Supreme, as part of Shockwave's strategy to defeat him. I loved it when Bruticus used Shockwave as his hand gun in the episode 'The revenge of Bruticus'.

Man never thought I would say this. But I'm getting tired of hearing about Beast Wars and Beast Machines all the damn time. The series wasnt that great when it was new. And alot worse now when watching it. Another 10 years and people are going to think Transformers started with this era and G1 will be dead and long forgotten. The real reason we are actually at a 30th anniversary.

You can say it, but there are post G1 fans that looks at that series and wonder why people think it's good. Some of which probably wonders the same about Beast Wars and other series as well.

But I do find it odd how something about the 30th anniversary leaves out chunks of it. All I was doing was saying he left out other couples, which I named. Personally Blackarachnia and Silverbolt had one of the strongest developed relationships in Transformers.

We came from two different eras, but it took fans from every series to get us to this point. One group isn't more special than the other. Without the efforts of the post G1 fans, Transformers would be in the same spot as some of the other 80's series. Either completely gone or suffer failed reboots for one reason or another, like He-Man and Thundercats.

No I would think G1 would be more special since that is where it all started. G1 would exist without anything Beast. But nothing Beast would exist without G1. Big difference in my opinion.

G1 started it, but after that series the line started to lose steam. From some stories I've seen from fans, some left because they were too old for cartoons and toys, or some other reason. Either way, a decline happened, Hasbro put out G2 and it didn't recapture the attention of kids, probably due to the strength of TMNT and Power Rangers. Fact is like it or not, Beast Wars got stuff pumping again after G1. Even Japan had it's own Beast Wars series before doing Car Robots after Beast Wars Neo failed to do good, like Beast Machines over here. During the same time Beast Wars was starting here, Hasbro tried to bring back vehicle transformers under Machine Wars, it was a complete failure.

Which isn't shocking as the target group of the time, my generation pretty much grew up with some kind of talking animal on cartoons or were hooked on Power Rangers with the Dinozords. Two of the most iconic movies for somebody of my generation was Lion King and Jurassic Park. Which oddly enough Jurassic Park inspired Beast Wars Dinobot's beast mode. But without the renew interests from Beast Wars and the toy engineering advancements under it, stuff like the G1 inspired Alternators, Masterpiece, and classic lines might not had been.

When it comes to Transformers, G1 and BW are like those bottom cards holding up the card tower. It took the success of Beast Wars to create another leg, which allowed for other cards to be added to make a impressive tower.

    Rom : Spaceknight 35th anniversary 1979-2014

The character Rom made his debut cover-dated December 1979 published by marvel comics.
I red that this, to me, great character might be coming to IDW Publishing and the transformers g1 line.

    To me, it sounds terrific!:)

Guardians of the Galaxy 45th anniversary 1969-2014

The original Guardians of the Galaxy first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes 18 cover dated January 1969.
They're from an alternative time-line in the future who are aided by present day marvel superheroes in their war against the Badoon, an alien race which attempts to conquer Earth's solar system.

To me, a group of transformers G1 from the future traveling to the present, would be a great story arc in the ongoing transformers G1 series of IDW Publishing.

Thankfully I got something like this from the story Target 2006 written by Simon Furman.
Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge travel back in time with a plan to destroy
Unicron. Lots happens. It ends when Galvatron Megatron's future identity kills Skywarp and he realizes that the 1986 that he is in is not the past timeline of his own time, 2006, because Cyclonus Skywarp's future identity will not be Cyclonus in 2006 if Skywarp is killed in 1986.

It is thus revealed that, like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge are from an alternative time-line in the future and any actions in the 1986 timeline that they are in, has no bearing on their future or their enslavement to Unicron.

To me, Target 2006 was an epic transformers g1 story.:)
