I echo the feelings of quite a few. Beast Wars is damn near perfect in every aspect and honestly if I could, I'd rate it a 9.5 but there's just something about it that is inches away from that line of perfection. I loved G1 as a kid (well, G2 to be more precise) but Beast Wars hit at the right time that it just felt... Right.

After G2 went off the air and G2 went off the shelves I was seriously concerned about when I would be able to buy new Transformers. Then the Primal Meg's two-pack came out, the show hit a few weeks later and all was right with the world. No moment in Transformers history since has had the same effect for me.

Does this mean you have not finished any tv series, if the first 5 eps are terrible?

Because every tv series' first 5 eps suck compared to their 25th, 30th, 40th ep etc.

I'm not talking about just Transformers either.
    -Star Wars: The Clone Wars
    -CSI
    -NCIS
    -Trek: TOS
    -Star Trek: TNG
    -Star Trek: DS9
    -Batman: TAS
    -The Walking Dead
    -Darkwing Duck
    -Simpsons
    -90s Spider-Man
    -90s X-Men
    -Smallville
    -Buffy
    -Angel

(I'm sure there are other, but this list is my opinion only, not fact)

NOTE: I AM NOT ATTACKING YOU. I want to understand, how the crappy first 5 eps can be used as a measuring stick for the entire series?

^ The Walking dead imo, had no bad episodes at all in the first series. The second series had some parts where it got a bit boring, but picked up quickly again.

I know, but my point was comparing the first 5 eps, compared to say last 5 of season 2, it's "nothing".

I didn't mean to imply those first 5 were "bad".

I'm sure no one is going to judge The Walking Dead when the series is done by its first 5 episodes, do you?

PS, I think we've derailed the thread enough for such a little point I was trying to get across.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends how crap it gets. I have lost interest in lots of T.V series because they completely lost my interest after a few episodes. It's normal.

Does that include a tv series that's been off the air for at least 10 years, has a DVD boxset, and fans on a message board that talk about it? Or are you referring to current stuff on tv?

    Current stuff of course.

You could add T.V series that have been off air as well, come to think of it. I own the DVD set and I remember watching parts of G1 where my mind was thinking at the time "WTF is this shit". The only reason I watched every single episode is, well, it's G1.

It's one of the best TF series and everyone who doesn't like it is a silly poopoohead and isn't invited to my b-day party.

Even though the CGI is dated, the facial expressions and body language are still top notch by TV standards. None of the CGI TFs from Energon or Cybertron compare. And even other CGI shows that have come and gone since BW went off the air have been shown up. It seems like only recently (the last 5 or 6 years) that we're getting a significant amount of CGI shows where facial expressions and body movements are surpassing BW.

I love how the praisers actually explain in detail why they like the show so much, while the complainers just say "zero" or something equally as enlightening. Back up your statements folks...

I gave it a 6. Better than average but I'm not seeing what others see in this series.

    Pros:
1: Season 2 and 3 are fantastic. I'll admit it's mostly due to the G1 tie in.
    2: Voice acting is excellent.
3: Transmetals and Transmetal 2's are killer. (Especially TM2 Cheetors design)
4: A sensible story line that remains coherent and keeps it's own continuity in check.

    Cons:
1: Most characters were stereotypical and bland. I mean really, they were basically named after their alt modes which didn't exist until they reformatted. The rat just so happens to be "a dirty rat" in personality. The youthful warrior (Cheetor)is a brash idiot. Tigatron (Who's alt mode is that of the endangered white tiger) is an environmentalist, I could go on and on but you get the idea.
2: Season 1 was as bad as G1's worst episodes with stories that went from dumb to plain st00pid.
3: A small cast made every battle feel like a schoolyard fight. When Ratrap, Cheetor and Dinobot are pinned down, you can always count on Rhinox as the lone reinforcement in most cases.
4: Waspinator. I mean WTF. Maybe as a 5 year old I would have like this character but I was 17 when BW came out. No thanks.
5: Prior to the G1 tie-in, there was no reason to care who won the war. A battle that takes place nowhere between nobody that doesn't directly affect the viewer is an empty story. (Once it became known the Beast Wars was being staged on Earth in the past, the stakes went through the roof.)
6: Organic forms on robots are teh lame. The fact that they were robots that turned into animals meant they still had to walk everywhere. Not really an exciting Transformers concept to me.

    There's more but this'll do.
