I'll never forget seeing the promos for the first Transformers Cartoon. It aired on Sunday late morning in New York for me. I think around 10 or 11 am. My Mother had already purchased my first Transformer, Skywarp for me a couple of months prior, and I couldn't wait to watch the cartoon. I watched the first episode and was forever hooked. I've since bought all of the VHS tapes of the series, the first DVD release by RHINO and the latest by Shout. Every so often I'll watch all of the episodes, and they always bring me back to the time when that episode originally aired. And one day when they are on Blu Ray, I'll buy them again.

When I was 10 years old, I remember that I missed the very first episode because I forgot (d'oh!) that it was airing that week, but after a friend reminded me, I made sure I tuned in at 4 PM the next day after school. And what was the first thing I saw? Prime being heroic and saving pain in the ass humans he didn't even know while giving orders without sounding like a dick. Made a kid want to follow him anywhere. Magic. It didn't hurt that the voices didn't sound like any robot voices I'd ever heard - they sounded alive and their personalities shone through. Kudos to the voice actors for producing something that stood the test of time.

And....Happy Birthday! At 28, TF is still very much in its "Prime". :D

    CRAZY

I remember seeing commercials for the toys and the comic but I had no idea there was going to be a show.
Then one day (28 years ago tomorrow) my cousin and I came home from school and More than Meets the Eye part 2 was on.
We were glued to the TV for 30 minutes.

    Hello All!

Sunday morning, 8AM, grandma's house, WDRB 41 (before it was a Fox network). Watched a half-hour of robots from Cybertron that would, unbeknownst to me, help shape my life over the last 28-odd years... and still does.

    Happy Birthday, G1 cartoon Transformers!

I was born far after the original G1 Episodes. However, as a very young kid, like 4, I remember an Episode of G1 where the decepticons were flying somewhere on a space ship. I was very interested. However, it took the 2007 movie to get me back into it. Either way, thanks so much G1 for starting it all! HAPPY BIRTHDAY G1!

P.S. Instead of doing homework, I'm gonna go try and find that episode of g1

So many fond memories... just watched the opening again.

This shit would have been ripped to holy hell if there had been such a thing as "internet forums" back then.

Happy Birthday Transformers! Although I never watched the original when it first came out (ten years before I was even born), I used to watch the 1986 movie when I was very young. It was literally my favorite movie and I NEVER stopped watching it.

Here's to 28 years of fine shows, fun toys, and a lifetime of good memories! :thumbs2:

    Thank you G1!

I still remember sitting in my pajamas at my dad's place. I was 8 years old. It was Sunday morning and I had to suffer through the Jackson 5 until Transformers came on. I soaked up every minute of that 1/2 hour, so I could talk to my friends about it the next day at school.

Happy Birthday to the G1 Transformers cartoon.

Generation 1 is the reason why I still like Transformers to this day. I have too many G1 favorites, Optimus Prime is obvious, Megs, Starscream, Soundwave, both Autobot and Decepticon combiners.

Oh boy, remember? Well, cant say I watched the original 84 broadcasting, I was born on December 84. :p
But all I can say is this: whenever I put the DVD and hit the play button its wonderful. I still feel like a kid whenever the credits start rolling, I even sing the tune and do the transformation sound or do the "Robots in Disguise" line with Soundwave's voice. XD Then its Optimus narrating (In the dub for South America the narrator is Optimus, not other actor like in the original version) Cybertron's war and then you THEM: Wheeljack and Bumblebee trying to get some Energon and having to escape from Starscream and his seekers, that tune start playing and I whistle the tune. XD
Its such an amazing episode! ITs an incredible show actually! I am happy that I grew up with it. curses now I will have to watch MTMTE again. XD
Back then I wouldnt even imagine that I will still be watching Transformers at my 27 years old and having Dozens of tf figures, comics and dvds from different series. I wouldnt even imagine there would be more series! :D  Beast Wars? Car Robots? Armada? AND THE MOVIES!!! Sweet Primus! Video games, a full ride, conventions.
    ITs really unbelievable. ^^

I remember taping every episode on my parents Beta machine so I could watch them when whenever I wanted!
It came on every day at 4:30 right after school!
