True, but at the same time, no one really complains about it for Season 2 so somehow they struck the right balance. Even plot-advancing episodes like Fuzors, Maximal No More, Bad Spark, Code of Hero and The Agenda had room for some character development as well, and there were still enough smaller, quieter episodes like Tangled Web and Transmutate that just got into character dynamics and personalities.

Compare Season 3 which wasted its too-short-season on essentially pointless episodes like Proving Grounds (one long action scene that didn't tell us anything we didn't already know about Blackarachnia) and Go with the Flow (which was just completely pointless and whose only saving grace is its one of the few episodes where Rattrap is given a starring role). It wasn't all bad - I think Changing of the Guard and Cutting Edge do a good job of having a self-contained plot, but advancing the broader story and showing interesting or new sides to the characters... but it just seems like the characters who do get moments in Season 3 are always the same handful. Season 2 spread the love a little better. Other than Cheetor (who made up for it in Season 3) I can't think of a regular character from that season who felt short-changed.

But still, I do agree with your general point that the lack of 26 episodes in Season 2 or 3 did mean that the characters who showed up after that point tended to not get the myriad of spotlight episodes people got in Season 1 when there were less characters and more episodes.

But he also spent hundreds of years on Cybertron a monster among his species. Spending that time alone being the only organic thing when you yourself were once wholey robotic would screw anyone up. Add Megatron's usual flavour of over-dramatics and his insane evil ways and it makes a lot more sense than you think.

Agreed. I liked the idea of him enjoying pain and suffering and causing it to others. We never saw this in S3 until his final battle with Depthcharge. All his power and danger seemed to slowly fade away as time went on from his introduction. 'Protoform X', the creep that never dies, seemed to be pretty easily beaten.

Atleast Rampage doesn't become a mary sue villian like Airachnid. Though Rampage never killed anybody on the show (only in flashbacks on Omnicron X but no one important was named).

Just had to say, THIS is what makes BW arguably the best Tf series; we can actually have discussions about CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. I'm a die-hard G1 fan and always will be, but 99% of G1 characters had the emotional depth of a kiddie wading pool.

Makes me wonder what kind of a colony Omicron was. Some people think it was a human colony.

    :thumbs2:

I still tear up even after watching it 10 times in the past 15 years. I was not spoiled on it, as the internet was not as big back then. My friends and I were all shocked.

I'm surprised why people are talking about stuff the OP hasn't even gotten to yet. He mentioned he hasn't watched the series yet, and with the spoilers and negativity, are you people trying to get him to hate the series before finishing it?

Just let him finish and let him give his opinion, then you can debate.

I always thought it was a energon colony and the Maximals there were miners. Depth Charge acted more like a security guard and perhaps Rampage showed up on the planet and killed the others while Depth Charge might of been offline for a rest.

Please watch the entire mini-series together, otherwise you may not be able to concentrate on whatever you are doing if you break up the flow.

So what's your verdict on it? It's historically been an ep that people either really like or really hate, although I've heard very little hate for it in recent years. I personally think it's almost as emotionally resonant as Code of Hero.

I could definitely see how it was an emotional episode. I did like it in the fact that we got to see another side of the "monster" Rampage.
I would say Dinobot, Rhinox, Tarantulas, Waspinator, and, yes, Inferno.

    EDIT: Oh, and Megatron.

OK. Just finished The Agenda III. That. Was. Amazing! Now, a couple of comments/observations:

First of all, I laughed when Rhinox was riding with Primal and kept looking down, and then quickly back up. Afraid of heights, are we Rhinox? :lol

Second, was that "Die cast. It's a lost art." comment by Primal a reference to the fact that the toys used to be (partially) die-cast? It sure seemed like he was talking to the audience with that comment...

All in all, it was epic. Can't wait to start S3 tomorrow!

    Did you forget to breathe?

-"Decepticons...FOREVER!!!" *transforms* was my favorite scene.
    -Rampage and missile...wow!!!
    -Megatron's soliloquy was very powerful
-the old G1s on the floor was very well done
-as you mentioned "Die cast. It's a lost art." that line made me smile back 1998
    -the music....simply amazing
-Is BW Megatron up there on your coolest characters of all time?

Glad you watched, nay, witnessed it. Hopefully nothing anyone said spoiled any of it.

As great as the Agenda was, the best part was surely
    Inferno's not-death
    .

EDIT: I'M STUPID AND FORGOT THE SPOILER TAGS

First off, maybe you should add spoiler tags considering you reveal
    Inferno isn't dead.

    Secondly,
comparing his intended death "For. The. ROYALTY! AAH HAHAHAHA" *Blows up cave to kill Cheetor and Primal* To his real death *barely manages to live through wiping out a human colony then gets accidentally blown up by Megatron* You have to kind of wish he did die in season two.

Blah, I find that overrated. In addition to
    not dying
, he also didn't even accomplish anything with his actions. Optimus and Cheetor were just fine. Much ado about nothing. I'm perfectly content with
him continuing on, and I think being killed by Megatron for no reason despite the mindless loyalty he showed him, is a pretty fitting fate for him.

But then I tend to find Inferno primarily a comical character, and don't really buy it when he tries to be serious or threatening.

Either way, I'm going to go ahead and call the ending of Agenda the best part. I do, however, also like Megatron and Ravage's confrontation in Megatron's cell, and of course "That's mighty considerate of you, Cheetor, and I am sorry too." "Sorry? For what?" "For this!"

Inferno's maneuver is also not nearly as impressive as
flightless Rattrap managing to get himself on the stealth battleship Ravage's flying on, infiltrating it, and managing to blow it up and kill Ravage in the process
    .

That gave me a hearty chuckle when I realized they were poking fun at Hasbro. Haha.

Also, one thing that struck me as weird with those episodes is how fucking gigantic the G1 bots seem in comparison to the BW bots. I know there's a pretty big difference between an ape and a semi truck, but it almost seemed too extreme.
