Pretty sure it is the Nemesis since he says it's the Nemesis.

It would have been an odd twist if they had discovered an escape pod(like in the G1 Insecticon episode) in Beast Wars that was either Autobot or Decepticon and showed the huge G1 bot alive and well next to the Maximals and Predacons.

Obviously, it would have to have been some unnamed throw away bot or con since it would be way to much of a shift in power and would have known the future.

But would have been super cool in their first episode.

    That wasnt the Nemesis.

But the Nemesis was found under a mountain by humans in the G1 episode Microbots.

It starts to really kick off after the half-way point in season 1.

I think Spider's game is where it starts getting good.

Finished The Weak Component. Pretty good, from a story standpoint. I was genuinely surprised when Megs kept his end of the bargain. I do wish Rattrap actually switched sides, though. When was the last time we had an Autobot/Maximal defect?

    I hated that episode. XD

Every Beast machines marathon I have, I always grind my teeth when I watch this episode because of how the Maximals acted like jerks towards Rattrap. Their comments were uncalled for, especially
Nightscream's. "Cut him loose? Really, Nightscream? This is why you are hated.

Me too, I was surprised when Megs let them leave. I was shocked.

Yeah, Nightscream sucks. He shows up in one episode, in the next episode he's trying to get them to ditch Rattrap, and then in the one after that he tries to get them to ditch Optimus. Fuck you, newbie.

I agree, I hated how Rattrap was treated. I can understand it from Nightscream who's a stranger, and maybe even Blackarachnia, with whom Rattrap had an adversarial relationship (although she went a bit far)... but it is completely out of character for Cheetor to treat Rattrap like that at all. Rattrap saved Cheetor's life in Beast Wars more than once and often their relationship felt like an overeager little brother and an older brother who found him a bit annoying but still had his back when it counted. Of the many different dynamics of the Maximals the bond between Rattrap and Cheetor sometimes gets underplayed since both are better known for their interactions with other members of the team, but Rattrap and Cheetor were close, and as the two least mature members of the team often joked around and bonded over enthusiasm and getting excited about kicking Pred ass that the others were often too stoic for.

You can tell Weak Component was written by someone who had never seen Beast Wars and just had the bare bones outline of who these characters were, because obviously Rattrap would have never approached Megatron either. And yeah, Megatron letting them go was pretty damn weird, I don't know if he still thought maybe he could get Rattrap to come over to his side or something and so didn't want to piss him off too much? I give it a slight pass because the way he worded it was that Rattrap played a fair hand, and Megatron of BW did like to use gambling metaphors a lot.

It just goes to show you how much Optimus was still needed in the team. In the past episodes on BM, Optimus didn't treat Rattrap like he was useless. He did send him out on the field. He wasn't useless. And those three just made me facepalm and hit my head on my desk multiple times.

Also, hated Cheetor's comment at the beginning:
"Leave the battle to the TRANSFORMING Maximals."

    Low blow, Cheetor. Low Blow.

And I loved their contradiction when they went told Rattrap that none of them could leave because Optimus needed to be looked after. But they all left to find Rattrap! Leaving Optimus there alone! Really, guys? Really? UGH! And...love how it seemed they didn't believe Rattrap's word when he said Megatron was weak. Also, wanted to hhit Nightscream for his "Optimus isn't here." comment. BRAVO MAXIMALS! BRAVO! YUCK YUCK YUCK! And yes, Rattrap didn't have the right to use weapons against the Maximals. I was glad when Optimus slapped some sense into everyone at the end.

Sorry, I hate this episode! XDDDDDDDDDD So much.

This thread has fallen too far...

    ***BUMP***

I kinda saw it as the equivalent of a young man seeing an elderly family member with a new disability, and not wanting to take care of him/her.

Also Dinobot747, are you happy with the background music? It's different from Beast Wars, but it wasn't bad IMO.

I think I prefer Beast Wars' music once it got out of its rock n' roll phase with all the like electric guitar riffs and stuff. But certain themes from BW were very memorable, and I like how a lot of characters' got their own sort of themes sometimes - the spiders always had the little ditty everytime they were up to something crafty, Silverbolt had his triumphant music, the theme that was playing throughout the Trigger ended up sort of becoming Tigatron and Airazor's themes, and I think I recall them playing the music from Code of Hero at the end when Dinobot 2 sort of became Dinobot all over again.

Beast Machines was more like... techno-y, right? I don't recall digging it.

The music isn't so bad. Actually, everything is pretty good except the designs for the Maximals. I literally like almost everything else except those.

I didn't like BM Cheetor, it just didn't feel like the Cheetor I knew. He wasn't as fun and to be fair he was pretty boring and annoying at times, especially when disobeying Primal.

Yet Cheetor picked up the slack that Optimus Primal began having.

I thought he was a better leader than bigbot by far.

Beast Wars is my favourite era of TF but there's a few problems with the show, one being the unbalanced character development. Specifically on Scorpinok, Rhinox, Tigatron and Airazor. With the latter two's departure being a total anticlimax for the characters' story. Rhinox as well, in season 3 did he leave the base at all throughout the season...? Scorpinok and Terrorsaur's departures were just pathetic, after building the characters up all season - they could have done something more with them. Season 3 was quite rushed now you think of it but they did a brilliant job with the space they had. Otherwise, everything else was pretty faultless and the writing was impeccable.

I think the movies made Beast Wars watchable. Never sat down and watched more than one episode until last month and it is a good show! Yes... I think Optimus Primal is the best incarnation op Prime (other than G1). Even the cartoony aspect of it doesn't bother me. Yes, it's an addictive show!

Umm....Primal is not an incarnation of Optimus Prime. He's a guy who really looks up to the big bot himself and chose to rename himself after him.

Although Megatron is explicitly mentioned to have named himself after the original Megatron, I don't think we've ever heard that officially about Optimus Primal.

I believe it's mentioned in Beast Machines by Obsidian:

"Although he took his name from a great leader (Which is of course everyone's favourite truck), Optimus Primal forgot the first rule of warfare; never underestimate your opponent."

OMG, haha. You're starting to turn into a younger version of me.

    Anymore episode updates?

Please don't tell me you've quit after ep 6...

But Megatron is the face of Beast Machines. Too bad the toy packaging didn't reflect that...for obvious reasons.

Welcome to the club. A little late, but no big deal. The story and the very little "dumbing down" is what got me, not that G1 dumbed it down too much either.

I've always found it weird people compare G1 Prime to BW Primal, one was a leader created to fight Decepticons, destiny and all that, while the other is his decendant in charge of an exploration ship thrust into a conflict he didn't want.

IMO, comparing G1 Optimus Prime to all others started at RiD is fine.
