I think they might get around to doing some of these now that they have the subscription service. I'm already wishing they had done Terrorsaur from HFTD Terradive instead of Depth Charge.

Ug, Theft of the Golden Disk is horrible. Also, I agree with Slyest Fox about the protoforms. They don't make any sense if they didn't have lives before BW. How could Tigertron be Cheetor's farther figure and Blackarachnia prefer Silverbolt because Cheetor's a kid if Cheetor is older than both of them?

 

No, it's 100% canon and made to be canon. That's even David Kaye as Megatron.

Also I don't think the problem is the fact that Tigatron and Airazor had lives before the Beast Wars, but the circumstances the comic creates to have them active, then be brought on board via wireless transfer. It's just silly and would've been better if they were just regular crew members who protoformed before the ship crashed like every other protoform.

 

I just finished episode 2 of Beast Machines. Ugh, this is horrible. Not necessarily the plot; but these beast modes, and especially robot modes, are terrible, IMO.

 

yeah, the designs are preeeetty shitty. blackarachnia's is just flat-out creepy.

Yep, you got it, that's how most of us feel as well...but you cannot hate the Vehicons...I'm pretty sure it's hard to for anyone. Those designs were awesome!!!

Notice what the writers did from the last ep of Beast Wars to the first ep of this series? Some time gap, with a mysterious event, plus the cryptic line from Megatron saying that the Beast Wars are over, and that it was Optimus who lost!!! Like WTF? Stay tuned for the answers of what happened.

Also notice how dark and grim the series starts off with? Well...it gets darker and grimmer...is that even a word?

For me, I forgot what point in season 1, but I started to cheer for Megatron, right up to the end of the series.
"I am the future. I have forged this entire planet into a single elegant machine. A vision of technological purity and order. And you four mongrels would dare contaminate that vision with your accursed beast modes."

 

I think everyone finds the show visually displeasing. However those who like the show do so because of the story and character arcs.

 

I think for the most part the beast modes are okay. In fact, I rather like Optimus and Cheetor's beast modes since they look a lot more like an actual gorilla and cheetah than they did in Season 1. But yeah... the robot modes are all various degrees of suck. And even the ones that look cool (which is... basically just Cheetor) just don't look at all robot-like. And Rattrap and Blackarachnia are just travesties. Emo-bangs Nightscream is even worse but he sucks so what do I care?

 

I did know that was David Kaye, which is about the only thing this has going for it, but isn't he like thanked profusely at the end or something? I think I had it in my head that this was a fan thing that the fans actually scored David Kaye to participate in (because from what I've seen, Kaye's actually the kind of guy who would be awesome and do that if it wasn't an inconvenience) and then it eventually kind of grew and evolved to the point where Transformers was like "What the hell, it's canon." kind of like how they were like "Fine, what the hell, the Predacon ship is the Darksyde then."

But if I'm wrong about that and it was like... an officially made canon production than that makes it even worse. Because it looks really terrible. Like something someone put together in a college elective.

I agree with this, I always saw them as members of the crew who the other four just didn't know before the mission and who thus lost their memory, not the weirdness we got.

Also, it was never really established that all of them lost their memory. Tigatron, Inferno, Quickstrike and Silverbolt definitely did but that was all from damage in the crash or some programming glitch, but Airazor never actually said anything to suggest that she didn't remember an old life on Cybertron. And Blackarachnia's extensive historical knowledge actually always made it seem like she flat out did remember life on Cybertron although that would mean she remembered being a Maximal which I guess doesn't make sense.

 

Design-wise? I kind of do. Jetstorm looks cool, but Thrust and Tankor look kind of bland and boring. Hell, for that matter, Jetstorm's the only of the three I like as a character too.

 

I remember the nearly 6 month wait between The Agenda Pt 3 and Optimal Situation..... it was so damn long I was starting to think the series was cancelled....

Because I'm rewatching the series on DVD now, and I'd be happy to do what you mentioned.
