So i finished off Exdous. (finally...)

And Megatron got his name from one of the 13 called Megatronus. Cool

no wait....after a little more reading....Megtaronus became The Fallen?! That's....an aweful idea...

Megatron picked his name to inspire the crowds and people, right?

Wouldn't it have been better when Hasbro was writing the history they made Megatronus a hero or something?
If Megatronus went down in history as someone who freed all Cybertron? Like If it was Megatronus who freed all cybertronians from the rule of the Quintessons to make this name out as and glorious freedom fighter
    Or
All cybertronians lived under the surface of cybertron and were to scared to leave the tunnels until Megatronus leaded them to the surface for a better life, so he can be seen as a symbol as a better future.

Those are things I think Megatron would want to be known for
And if Megatronus face looks like the picture (or something like that) it easily explains the Decepticon's symbol, it would be a badge representing 'change for the better.'

But...currently Megatron chose his name because Megatronus was the strongest jerk? Oops and must of forgotten that whole The fallen thing, who is basically the robot devil.

"Follow me brothers in my fight agents "the man"! I Lucifer will lead us to a glorious path"
'Wasn't Lucifer Satan?...Wasn't he evil?...Didn't he lose? And all his followers got damned?...ummm no thanks'
    or
"Follow me brothers in my fight agents the man! I RobinHoodwill lead us to a glorious path"
'ya...YA!....everyone knows RobinHood. Dis guy wants to help da poor...I'm right poor. I like the sounds of dat'

[For best resolves, picture the first speaker as Megatron, and the second as a cockney accent] ^^

What do you guys think would be a better history for Megatronus?

Iirc correctly the 13 are thought of as legend in the book and I do believe they said that many think the Fallen was right in whatever it was he did against his brothers in legend.

Instead of Lucifer think of him more as Prometheus.

-ZacWilliam, or even Eve. Somone who transgressed but whose myth can be viewed in a positive light. Have you ever studied the British Romantics? They frequently recast Satan/Lucifer as the original Rebel/Freedom Fighter and in many ways idealized him.

The Fallen's exact crimes are unknown, other than that
    he killed Solus Prime
. It is implied though a lot of what happened had been forgotten by the time Megatron took up the name as Alpha Trion does beg the question of whether Megatron would have adopted the name, had he known what actually happened.

It is also suggested that The Fallen was not the only "evil" member of the 13, and that
    The Liege Maximo
was a far more deplorable character.

I've spoilered stuff relating to the second book as you've not read that yet.

And yes, agreeing with ZacWilliam's point, I do see shades of Prometheus in The Fallen. Does that make Vector Prime or Nexus Prime Epimetheus, and Solus Prime Pandora? There's definitely some scope for viewing The 13 as a possible analog for Greek mythology, and moreso, the way it sort of all vaguely connects makes me wonder if these guys might have been "ancient astronauts" i.e. somehow, a memory of what they did was passed to the people of Earth to inspire those myths. TF Prime definitely seems to be hinting at that, as does a couple of scenes of Revenge of the Fallen (where your Prometheus analogy comes out in full force, "taking fire from the heavens" but in the worst possible sense!)

    There is that.

I had the thought that The Fallen at one point said "No More" to something, which led to the split and the "failure" of the 13. Which is what Megatron was all about; his entire mission was to say "No More" to the caste system and rebirth Cybertron as a free planet. Given the mythical and largely unknown nature of the 13 to modern Cybertronians, D-16 saw the parallel and took the name for that reason. Then in an irony, he also loses his way after starting with a pure intent, just as The Fallen did.

I hear what you guess are saying and that's a very valid point in real life. But this isn't real life this is media. Unless it's is the topic of the media your watching to be philosophical, or a mind twister. Media needs to be black and white.
So good points, but i would agree with the director who would say: Just make him a 'misguided bad guy' were not trying to make megaton the good guy here.

This it's simple Sci-fi plup fiction, not a media philosophy art piece.

    AH! see that...that is awesome!
I'd totally be on broad with that, except cybertronian know of The Fallen as a mythical bad guy right?
Because if Cybertron knows Megatronus as; the man who said 'no more' that's awesome.
[Not so if it's know he turns evil though]

True-and they do know him as a bad guy. Megatron essentially uses it as a metaphor. In the same way that Megatronus pulled away from what the others were doing, Megatron himself rose up from the system and changed everything-but for the "good" instead.

I can not express how strongly this is not true.

-ZacWilliam, unless you're writing for preschoolers and sometimes not even then.

Yeah, it is extremely false that any media should be black and white.

There are always situations were something is useful. It's not that there are no situations where media could/should be fairly black and white... But the supposition that most fiction NEEDS to be Black and White is hideous.

-ZacWilliam, you could make a strong argument that NOT being Black and White is the start of any good writing...

If you're using the Christian comparison, I think The Fallen is more Judas and Unicron is the Devil.
