Generally the names remind me of the things they're supposed to evoke, which usually ties back to the characterization in some way or another.
because he always has those funny fox ears in g1 and movie and movie jazzes face reminded me of foxes

i know they evoke stuff like jazzes name is a music name and he likes music ratchet which i think got his name from a show or something may remind me of wrenches and he works with wrenches in the ark and I'm only talking g1 but I'm saying their body designs and their names as well like like ratchet reminds me of the cop with a mustache from the dark knight because he has a mustache type thing in the movie

Reminds me of the way some native American tribes used to bestow names.

Bob Budiansky named Ratchet after Nurse Ratched from the film One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

I don't mean to be rude but some of these posts are funny.

Anyway Cliffjumper makes me think he's one of those people who like to cliff dive. Noble makes me think of a good guard dog. THe name Prime makes me think of Prime rib. Thundercracker to some makes them think of farting.

The only thing in exsistance that Megatron and Unicron should fear

Movie Ratchet gives off more of a Wilford Brimley vibe to me. But that's not his name reminding you of something, now is it?

Actually, movie ratchet's head kind of reminds me of a kakapo.

I guess the "latin and greek" based names remind me of antiquity and classicism, because I can usually pick them out and they're usually pretty different from the other "VERBNOUNER" names.
