I remember they planned a 5th Season and I also remmber at the end of Rebirth Galvatron is talking with Zarak about his plans for constructing a bigger planet 10 times bigger then Cybertron and that he will rule as is his destiny, but where was he going since he was leaving Cybertron perhaps Earth? But that's not the question I am asking, the question I am asking is why did they canceled the 5th Season and put and in G1 in the States, what happened? Thanks
If I'm not mistaken, it was mostly because of poor toy sales. The toys weren't selling, so they decided it was time to end the half-hour commercials.
I always wondered why it did end. I would love it if it got rebooted though with the same figures just better movement in arms and legs like they are today.
Well, the Transformers continued in Japan. I always thought it was odd that they didn't just dub those shows.

G1 didn't end. Sure the show is gone and a revisit is not currently planned but G1 is still here. In our hearts and our minds we keep it going. G1 will never be forgotten.
Yes, poor sales. As hard as it may be to believe now that TFs are raking in the dough, back then they were shelf warmers. I remember picking up Pretender Bludgeon on clearance for $3, and the Action Masters for $1 each. Everyone who grew up on them had gotten "too old" to play with toys anymore, and moved on to more "mature" things. It wasn't until years later that the power of nostalgia would revive the line and make it successful again.
Right on so many levels. Don't look beyond this answer. Transformers are a business first and foremost and, like any other business, when it's not making any money you don't spend money to make it lose even more.
I think the ending started with the animated movie and the death of Optimus Prime. But the overall ending was with poor toy sales.
Declining interest in the toys - personally for me it was mostly that the Pretenders and then Action Masters just didn't appeal to me. So I switched to more GI Joes, Captain Power, TMNT, etc. As for the show: NO OPTIMUS PRIME. That's what killed it for me.
