Silly Misconceptions!

Okay, here's a thread about the silly things about Transformers that you thought you knew, only to be proved wrong.

Couple of examples:

When I was a kid, I didn't know how to pronounce 'Witwicky'. It was only after seeing the first Bay movie that I realised how you say it.

Coming from an area of the UK were there are a lot of immigrants from central Europe, I assumed that the W was pronounced as a 'V' (like the composer Wagner), and that the c was pronounced as a 'ts' (like the composer Penderecki).

The upshot of all this was that, due to my close association with many continental Europeans, I thought that 'Witwicky' was pronounced 'Vit-vitsky', and did so from childhood right up until the first Bay fim was released. Doh!

Example number 2:

I always thought that the Decepticon Spinister was a female. As a kid I thought that his name was supposed to be a play on the word 'spinster', which of course means an unmarried woman.

It wasn't until I was in my early twenties, collecting the old 'Cybertronian Index' books that I realised that it was a cross between 'spin' and 'sinister'. Doh!

So yeah, anybody else have any stories of childhood Transformer confusion?

Not exactly a misconception, but when I first heard of Fuzors, I thought they were "Fuzzors" and would have actual fur.

When I first heard about Prime Knock-Out I thought was a Big Brutal Guy,and Prime Breakdown was a Scary-Coward Guy.

I remember having Micromaster.....something, the little red minivan and thinking he was some sort of mini-Ironhide.

I used to think Blast Off was another version of Astrotrain.

I thought the 2007 movie was an interpretatio of Armada, and that Bumblebee was an "okay" substitute for Hot Shot.

My childhood friend pronounced rumble as "rambo" until now (though he had long given up TF) everytime we reminisce about those wonderful years.

Support my LEGO creations and put 'em on your store shelves!

The scene from TFTM where Prime is driving towards all the 'cons and ramming them. There's this one shot where Thrust is shown in the reflection of Prime's grill. For some reason I used to think he was trapped inside of his grill and was watching in horror as he got a 1st person view of Prime ramming all his 'con buddies.

Hmmm... that'll take some thinking...

I know SOMETHING had to do with me thinking someone was the opposite gender...

"Where is it/you at?" (and similar statements using "at") IS BAD GRAMMAR. Thank you for your time.

i always thought in when watching rid i thought scourge was actually optimus prime who became evil some how and the optimus prime was just a different bot who took command after Optimus left
My Feedback
A black guy walks into a bar, gets gangraped by a bunch of bikers and the bartender says who wants rice crispies
