Oh yeah, Megatron. Using that logic, G1 Megatron should be renamed as he also got the name Megatron from the same place BW Megatron did. Would be stupid with G1 Megatron and just as stupid to do with BW Megatron. He renamed himself that, much like Dinobot, Waspinator, and the others besides Optimus Primal and Depth Charge had different names before the war. ![]() Megatron: "What is this? A new Megatron with shark teeth doing seek and finds? How annoying, yesss." Optimus Primal: "Slag, I never even made speeches that boring on our show." |

BW Megatron is the ruthless leader of a faction of robots hell bent on destroying his arch nemesis, the robot known as Optimus. Just like the original Megatron. ![]() http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/items-...cus-value.html<---Click Me-It's my Trade Thread |

He should go with the G1 Era Megatron, the RID Era Megatron, Armada Era Megatron, Energon Era Megatron, Cybertron Era Megatron, Live-Action Movie Era Megatron, and the Prime Era Megatron. The fact that he briefly coexisted with G1 Megatron when traveling through time is a mere technicality. And Facebook |

The idea of giving him some new, original name at this late date is moronic. Unless he was named by the original tv series' writers and it could be shown that they had the unused name in mind at the time they wrote the show back in the 1990s, his ONLY name now is Megatron. The difference between BW Megatron and all those others is that they are basically all alternate universe versions of the original Megatron. They REPLACE Megatron in their respective timelines. BW Megatron exists in the SAME universe as G1 Megatron and cites the original character as his inspiration. It's a completely different situation. BW Megatron is no more the same character as G1 Megatron, than Primal is Optimus Prime. You can't fold them in together.

Except no. Thankfully Hasbro understands this. You can keep posting about it over and over and over, but he's a officially recognized as a different character, by the fandom, by Hasbro, as he should be, end of story. Even if he doesn't make it this year, eventually he will be, like it or not. ![]() ![]() **My Flickr Page of Mostly Toy Photography**

Also, I really hope you guys can make use of this retardation in your next podcast, namely the childish animosity that comes with people not being able to tell the difference between a gun & a dinosaur. No offense to the people trying to argue that they're the same person, but I personally think it's hilarious. |

Technically speaking, since he took the original name and tweaked it to fit himself, the difference between Primal and Prime clearly shows two different characters, despite them being similar in personality. Had Beast Wars Megatron taken the name and tweaked it a to fit himself, like say Megatrex (get it, Mega T-Rex?) instead of Megatron, this would be a non-issue. I'm under the impression that the Hall of Fame inducts those based on the name and personality. You say that BW Megatron embodies everything that is Megatron. So if everything that embodies Megatron was already inducted when G1 Megatron (and any other Megs)was, logic would say that despite being a separate character, sharing the name and personality make his nomination invalid. I disagree with that premise and believe that BW Megatron was it's own personality all together. The only thing they had in common was their name, and I feel that if that solitary link were severed, there would be nothing invalidating him as a potential candidate. That's basically why I started this thread. To see how creative people would be with his original name. I will say though, that it would be entertaining if Hasbro released a new series that were a sequel to G1 and Beast Wars in the same continuity and another new original Megatron showed up. Would be quite the interesting debate if that hypothetical character ever got nominated.... ![]() |

It's unimportant what his original name was and it's not fans' place to fanfic him up a name. If he wins, there is zero doubt in my mind that Hasbro will call him "Beast Wars Megatron". And that's fine.
