I mean why not a electronic warfare armored car and a science and exploration truck? At least those can a) move on their own means and b) are actual weapons in a theater of war that can help with both modes.

Hell, Perceptor was at least useful for something. Soundwave, though...I just don't get why people clamor for a redux of his toy as the "OG TAPE DECK YO." It's a frigging tape deck. Useful for absolutely nothing.

I'm guessing that Soundwave and Perceptor were just created as was with what they got their hands on. Hence why further iterations of Soundwave have had no excuse.

I seem to remember that with some creative folding, you could turn Perceptor into something that resembled a tank or a mobile artillery piece.

Poor Soundwave got no such luck though

I pretty much agree with all of these. The fandom one doesn't need to be elaborated on at all; we've all seen it in action.

In my opinion, G1 Bumblebee would have been better as a civilian refugee than as a soldier or spy; he's too small and weak to be an effective fighter compared to the 'Cons. He could be a kid who fled Cybertron during the war, only to have the war come to his new home. Or we could just go with Movie Bumblebee.

G1 Soundwave and Perceptor can add Megatron to that list; I don't care how symbolically effective the gun mode is, if the character can't move on his own, then don't bother with it.
