I was just reading one of my old JLI trades from the 90's, and there is a page where Mary Marvel and elongated Man are discussing Transformers. He admits to having a big collection and even says his favorites were the Dinobots.

I just thought that was really cool it was mentioned there, a superhero actually collected Transformers. :lol

    Scans here : http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...d-man-collected-transformers.html#post7074589

    CORRECTION : T'WAS 2003 MINISERIES.

Well they didn't use the term Transformers, Mary said the Japanese robot toys that changed into cars and planes. Ralph said nostalgia from the 80's too. So it was it was very much implied.

Marvel and DC give eachother alot of leeway when it comes to IP. Hell, Clark Kent and Lois Lane appear in Excalibur #8. And a hilarious appearance as well.

Green Lantern also mentioned Transformers in the first issue of Justice League. I suppose Hasbro wouldn't mind DC mentioning their toy line because it would give Transformers more attention.

Ild you noob. He said motorized. Hes a zoids collector.
The collection probably grew since he has more space now that sues dead, haw haw! /guy

Edit: for the uninitiated, Giffen-dematteis era JL was doing the whole contemporary pop culture reference schtick back when deadpool was a serious character/B.I (before internets). And unlike current deadpool schtick was actually funny.

So its not so much as a marvel reference as it is a jab at adults who likes collectibles, plus that looks like kev maguire art and mary was not in the 80s JLI so this comic is from recent mini series during the 00s so way past when marvel had TF rights. The more you know! (also, the story takes place pre doomsday event)

    Interesting trivia.
I would have thought that the 'they were Japanese' line was a reference to the first movie, but this predates that.

Also, the link to the scans on the OP just reload the thread.
