I just finished watching RID, and while I loved the show when I was a kid I sadly can't say I still feel the same. It's honestly one of the worst TF shows I ever watched, it is only slightly more tolerable than G1. And it's a shame really because I like a lot of the character designs in this show. Megatron is such an over the top villian in this series right down to his terrible voice (friggin guy sounds like The Shredder from TMNT Coming Out of Their Shells), and that really sucks because RID Megs is one of the coolest looking versions of the character since the Beast Wars.

Optimus Prime's design is badass looking but he got his ass handed to him by the Decepticons more times than I actually remembered, and always needed the Autobot bros. or even Ultra Magnus to get him out of a jam. Omega Prime is a badass looking combiner but the dub ruins him with such a terrible voice. I really like the idea of Magnus and Prime being brothers, but I felt the rivalry that Magnus had with him could have been handled a lot better.

The show only started to get really entertaining in the last 5 or so episodes, but even the final battle between Omega Prime and Galvatron left a lot to be desired.

    The best things to come out of this show were no doubt;

    - Scourge
    - Sky-Byte
    - The Autobot bros.
    - Ultra Magnus ( I really liked this take on him)

Such cool designs and even most of the toys for this series were awesome, and I still have some of them. But they really should have made new molds for the Spy Changers and the Commandos instead of using old G1 and G2 figures.

So, quick question for you guys.

I'm a relatively new fan to the RID line, and I'm wanting to purchase a version of Prowl/Mach Alert (Prowl is a favorite character of mine from pretty much all lines, so it's only fitting that his toy be the first I purchase from this line).

Problem being, I seriously cannot choose between the ordinary version and "Super" version. Both have their high points and benefits, and I like each version equally. Any suggestions as to which I should go for?

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask; if not, I'll move my question to another topic.

Get both, one to display in robot mode and the other in vehicle mode.

In that case, the white version as that's the first one in the show.

I've been eying RID Optimus Prime for some time now, and I've managed to find him on eBay for a good price, all accessories and weapons, no split tires. Should I get him?

Ofcourse you should but then you are in the RID forum where you are more inclined to get a biased response ;)

Seriously though, rid optimus prime is a great figure IMO. I've got two; one with split tyres that displays and one MIB. He's even better when you get him together with an rid ultra magnus and "combine in to Omega Prime" (put on naff omega prime voice)

    go for it!

Well, just managed to snag like-new Prowl and Side Burn for $5 each from eBay. Looks like my RID collecting has begun!

Good stuff, congratulations. Love the alt modes of the brothers - not the transformations though, particularly sideburns, to this day it still makes me nervous (I broke a door when I first did it) so I advise caution, make sure you have his instructions to hand!

Gosh dangit. I am so desperate for a dvd set release of this series. Wish there was something we could do to help make it happen. With it being 2015, you'd think someone would have made a move by now.

Anyway, just pulled out my Rail Spike and Midnight Express again after playing with Landfill. Those guys have always been my two favorite teams. I love trains (although they could do better train transformers if they tried. Don't know why it seems we haven't got any since this series), but I've always seemed to like Build Team more. They're so colorful, and very well designed. Heavy Load was my first from the set.

Didn't get to watch Beast Wars or Beast Machines much because of the weekday schedule overlapping with school (that was the dumbest thing ever. After school shows started during school hours. What the hell were they thinking?), and Unicron trilogy aired on cable which we don't have, so RID was really the only transformers series I grew up on, being a 90's kid. Still love it more than all the others to this day, although I do still really enjoy Armada.

    You know what's cool? Ruination!

What are the chances of getting a Ruination repaint from Combiner Wars Bruticus?

I already have CW Brawl, Swindle, Blast Off, Vortex, and I still can't find Onslaught anywhere. While I wanted to wait for a Ruination version, I figured the chances of it happening were slim and I didn't wanna miss out on them. Still it needs to be done.

You may not have noticed, but Takara actually gives Car Robots a fair amount of love.

Just in the past year they've put out LG Sky-Byte, LGEX Black Convoy, and a repaint of Strongarm in the TAV line homaging Rollbar (The Swindle mold in Ruination)

I'm sure at some point there will be a UW Ruination coming from TakTom. Probably a Mall Exclusive, but that certainly won't deter me from getting it.

And this is all assuming Hasbro doesn't cash in on Ruination themselves.

How could I have forgotten about Sky-Byte? I have the Generations version.

I agree though, Takara is most likely to do a Ruination. But the chances of Hasbro bringing it over is slim to none.

Ruination was my favorite in all of RiD. I remember seeing the show and thinking of how much better styled he was compared to all the other characters in the show and how I liked his team the most. I went to a Kaybee Toys and bought all the member toys and it was at that moment, that I had an "AHA!" moment when the store clerk told me he was a repaint of Bruticus and subconsciously THAT'S probably why I liked his look so much.
