Wow. I just got X-brawn in the mail which gave me hankering for more RID2001,

    but yikes!!

Completed Ultra Magnus goes for well over $100 on eBay. Does that surprise anyone else?

Maybe I'll just save up birthday/christmas gift cards and settle for some of the smaller figures in the meantime...yeesh. Or maybe the google shopping search trick will come in handy.

I took my time to shoot my Encore God Fire Convoy and change the background. I still can't believe I got a no QC issue copy.

    Surprised me.

I started collecting BWII, Neo and dug out my Car Robots last Mar/Apr when the Pandemic began. BWII and Neo's prices were sky high. But Car Robots, were all easy to find easily and relatively cheap. I got replacement parts no problem. I guess the market finally caught up to them.

I remember when I was hunting BW Neo toys while back in the 2000's I got them for very cheap prices back in the day.

Didn't know where else to ask, has anyone seen this Omega Prime art used anywhere else before? I've been doing some digging and it looks like this was at least featured in an issue of Fox Kids Magazine, I've never seen it before but it's pretty cool. Almost gives a Generation One box art kind of vibe. No way would I pay the asking price for a *single magazine page*

I have, not sure if in that format. Might actually have that somewhere buried. Hasbro did a lot of traditional promotional stuff for that line, magazines, comics, industry publications. Not sure about commercials for toys.

@Logos Minor I've seen that image before! I actually think I just recently saw that actual advertisement somewhere on the internet. My automatic assumption would be that I saw it on RIDforever.info.

If I recall correctly, this image came from the final issue of Fox Kids magazine. At 10 years old, I had just signed up for the mag, got that final issue, then they cancelled the magazine right after that, lol. Still actually remember it pretty well, because I read it from front to back many times over (mostly because it was the only one I ever had).

Just did a quick lookup and I found a blog with some scans of the magazine:

Skid-Z was the last Car Robot figure I was able to track down. I just got one about 2 years ago. A must to get a cartoon-accurate Cybertron team.

Great pictures. Skid-Z looks mighty fine.

I just got Prowl in the mail this week. He's posing beside X-Brawn and yellow Hightower + Heavyload (and a little LEGO policeman with a white shield and a surprisingly similar color scheme to Prowl, lol).

I’ve been wondering why some fans don’t like the idea of Car Robots being another spinoff to Beast era?

Amazing haul! I need to find one, too!

Here's a pic of Wrecker-Hook in the mean time.

Because it makes things needlessly complicated with no real payoff? I mean, with the toys, design-wise you can see how the CR-original molds use the same philosophy as Neo, but bringing in time travel in the fiction and making the characters post-Neo transplants adds exactly nothing to the story. Not to mention it's a huge retcon with no support in the media of the time. There was one mention of a "dimensional patrol" in one promotional release prior to the release of the line and show, and the current pack-in comics have run with that obscure idea like a toddler with something new and shiny. I mean, you have to accept that the characters time travelled to the gap between G1 S2 & 3, yet had no real impact on the events of S3 or were even mentioned in passing, and that all the characters got upscaled back to standard G1 size rather than the human-approximate scale we saw in the Beast series.

Surely, if CR happened before S3, there would have been some impact - the events of CR/RiD were far too prominent not to be remembered a scant 6-10 years later. I mean, obviously in the real world, a show from 1986 would have no way of referencing one from 2000, but in universe, if they're in the same continuity, the should have been some connection made in CR. Reference made in-universe to Baldigus' resemblance to Bruticus (and Battle Gaia), more familiarity with Transformers at the start of CR, something like that. If CR was intended to be in continuity with G1, some references could have been made. (Yet the obviously not-in-continuity RiD dub DID have loads of references as Easter Eggs.) The simplest explanation is that G1 and RiD are not in continuity with each other.

Hell, even Masterforce, which played incredibly loose with its continuity with earlier shows, still payed a bit of lip service to Headmasters at the beginning.

It's just too many hoops and for what? To shoehorn CR into Takara's bloated G1 timeline. Why would I prefer that to Hasbro's multiverse approach?

So my question in turn is, why are you so enamored of the idea? What's the appeal?

Takara Build Team MIB and MISB Rail Racer team acquired!

(of course I had to mess with the build team at least)
These have been a grail for over a decade and it feels great to have them!
