Again, they're not even close to the power Alternities wield. As the weakest example of the Alternity powers so far, Alternity Bumblebee (A weaker member of the Alternity) when confronted with some regular Decepticons decided that they were in his way, so he removed their z-axis and stepped over them. Alternity Megatron, more then a dozen multiverses away, became aware his plans were being discovered, so he plunged his sword through all of the said multiverses to stab at Alternity Bumblebee from where he was. Some of the more "powerful" examples include destroying entire multiverses with a single shot, altering the flow of time and using it as a weapon, and warping the fabric of reality into a universe sized game. None of those were regarded as even slightly impressive by their peers though. They officially regard Unicron and Primus as being so antlike that they're beneath their level of concern.
Alternity is so insane. It's basically Transformers:COSMIC GODS!!! The whole concept for the series is like Grant Morrison on an absinthe drip, after a G1 cartoon bender. It's up there with KISS Players for sheer wackiness. Megatron can stab through time, but he still transforms into a Fairlady Z. Go figure. zmog

Oh, absolutely, despite it's many nods (Mystery of Convoy!), it's pretty far removed from the best fiction (It's hard not to find it pretty laughable that according to them, a sports car is the most effective alt-mode to travel between dimensions and time). As I said, it seems like Alternity was designed so that TF fans could win any arguement when some other franchise fan says, "Who wins in a fight, fiction A or Transformers?" so that the TF fan can just play the Alternity card and win the arguement. However, the topic on hand isn't, which great fiction produced powerful characters, it's who are the four most powerful Transformers, to which the Alternity very clearly are.
Maybe not for pure punching power, but you have to consider how dangerous soundwave is. He could read peoples thoughts and was a master spy. He only gets more dangerous if you count his cassettes. Using his lamp post mode and lazerbeak he managed to find out the autobots were leaving the earth (first g1 ep), used lazerbeak to find out about the autobot shuttle heading to earth (movie) - which ultimately led to the massacre of so many autobots. but if your going for pure strength/ ability to make things dead-er - 1. Metroplex (fort max may have been big - his head the size of a transformer - but metroplex's noggin was big enough for several autobots to walk around in) 2. Trypticon (Hasbro WFC Trypticon toy - now please?) 3. Omega Supreme (particularly the WFC version) 4. Fortress Maximus
My list IMHO: Autobots/ Cybertrons: Primus (duh); Star Saber/ God Ginrai/ Fortress Maximus Decepticons/ Destrons: Black Zarak, Overlord, Galvatron and Deathzarus
The Fallen got owned in like 5 minutes of combat, didn't he? I say The Beast needs some love here! He is my #1 non-city/planet Autobot hands down
