In the final scene of the entire animated series, optimus and the gang are walking out of omega supreme with megatron and the other decepticons.

Well, a Matrix container of same kind with a necklace. Kind of reminds me how Galvatron wore it in the 86 Movie.

 

is it the allspark that jazz and prowl put together?

 

i like to think it could be both.

It's the Allspark container,which is shaped like the Matrix of Leadership.The Autobots gathered most of the Allspark Shards and put it back in the container...the chain with it was just a coincidence.

 

And with that, I think this thread's point is now moot.  

 

Actually, although it's the remaining Allspark shards put back together, I'm pretty sure the creators' idea was that this would become this universe's Matrix.

Actually, I think the Allspark container and the item around Prime's neck at the end of Animated are two distinctly different things. Here's a comparison pic:



They look somewhat differnet to me. I'll grant that parts of the Allspark container were possibly used to construct the Matrix-looking thingy around Prime's neck, and that would explain why they share some similarities, but I don't think they are one and the same. Also, the Allspark container was depicted as being somewhat larger that Prime's new bling.

So, as others have posted, I think that if the series had continued, this would have been the introduction of the Matrix of Leadership.

 

Since the returned AllSpark wasn't complete, I think they simply just didn't need as big of a container.

Prime's got the Magnus Hammer, so he makes a new one, just like how the original was.

 

I personally just thought it was a funky medal to symbolise what a huge hero he'd become.

 

It's the smaller Allspark in a new container. I have little doubt that had the series continued, it would've been at least jokingly refered to as The Matrix.

 

I'm pretty sure it was meant to homage the g1 matrix of leadership whilst at the same time being the new house for the allspark, creation matrix ftw.

If you want an official answer why not just ask the show's writer?

Hmmm…so it was that long since I seen Animated…well that puts my answer to shame.

 

Prime opens his chest and puts the Matrix in... when suddenly: his voice changes to that of Peter Culen, and his faceplate gets stuck in the "up" position for some reason.
