Better yet, stop stressing over it because it's Wikipedia. It's not a reliable source for anything. | I have changed it. It was changed back.
And you're right, it's not a reliable source, precisely because just anyone can go and put up anything. And then when you see so-called "editors" pulling the kind of stuff I've seen on this issue, and it drives home how completely unreliable and untrustworthy that site is.
But it's scary how often people take whatever they "read on the Internet" as true, such as giving people's blogs the same weight as newspapers. sigh |

Takes a lot of experience to tell the difference, though.
Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.

They have self-created guidelines about the inclusing of "popular culture" references in the Wikipedia articles. I think the basic standard is that it has to be important to the vehicle to the general public. Therefore a big budget movie that spotlights or introduces a military vehicle will get a mention in the article. For instance the F-22 was shown in the 2007 movie prominantly, with cooperation of the military, liscensed, etc. So it gets mentioned. The fact that some japanese toy from 1984 looks like an F-15 is NOT looked on as favorably by those editors. They don't want the Wiki page turning into a list of trivia. G1 Starscream didn't make the F-15 notable in the public eye they way the 2007 movie made the F-22 famous in the public eye, or so they say.
I don't say I agree with their calls, but that seems to be their reasoning.
I've added a ton of car, boat and jet references to Wikipedia myself, most of it gets removed, some stays. Mostly depends on if some other self-appointed-guardian editor gets a bug up his butt to revert you.
You might have more luck if the F-15 model had been liscensed for Starscream by hasbro. It was not.
I suppose we could start some sort of organized effort to get the F-15 to mention Transformers, but since many Transformers fans actively dislike Wikipedia, it might be difficult. |

I'm NOT one of those jerks who deletes things as because it's too "trivial" for them, but I to revert blatant nonsense daily.
That edit about Sparkplug got reverted as vandalism about 7 minutes after you posted it. Wikipedia is usually pretty good about removing blatant vandalism. I have most of the Transformers articles on a watchlist myself and revert any nonsense that creeps in daily. |
