In one of those boards for the stories after kup and hot rod came into the city you see an autobot at the city and in vague print it says sunstreaker above an autobot. It is the made it in scene in the stroy boards. |

Sunstreaker was seen alive and well on the Autobot Shuttle coming in with Prime and the Dinobots, and thus survived the massacre at Autobot City. Its entirely possible he survived the entire battle, and simply faded into the background like most of the other lesser G1 S1+2 characters. |

Story boards and un-used scenes are fun to see but they cant over ride what ended up in the final version of the film.
