Trust me, the Shout! Factory G1 sets -- particularly their Matrix of Leadership set -- are way better than the Rhino sets.

The extras are entertaining. Several of the VAs talk about what it was like doing the voices for the episodes. The beginnings of the franchise was very interesting on how they took a Japanese toyline and made it popular.

I kind of like the animation errors. They're funny. Were things like multiple Starscreams being on screen at the same time changed?

I only have the 1st season of the rhino dvds and season 1 and 2 part 1 of the shout. I did find that shout added scenes that were missing from the rhino release. I noticed it most in the episode heavy metal war. Hope this helps.

Everyone is comparing the Shout! set the Rhino DVD's, however I have not heard one comparison to the MADMAN box set. This surprises me since those two are more similar of a product being an entire box set.

This being the case does anyone have any insight here? How does the Shout! G1 box set stack up against the MADMAN box set?
