His toy's just a flat tape with four legs. He's been shown sitting by his master and being petted, and he's appeared on a leash, which are much more dog-like things than they are cat-like. He's not an exact replica of a jaguar by any means. More of a vaguely cat-like, four legged robotic thing. I think the vagueness of the animal shape explains the confusion over what he's supposed to be.
Interestingly, the Microman cassette toys that became Ravage and Laserbeak seem to be based on two earlier Takara toys that weren't cassettes... Space Dober and Space Condor. But while the bird cassette was called Condor, like Space Condor, the other was called Jaguar, unlike Space Dober. It's possible that Microman Jaguar (Ravage), was also meant to be a doberman at some stage. If you look at the G1 Ravage toy, it looks somewhat like a doberman, with the long snout and ears... the only thing not at all doberman-like is the long tail. Perhaps the toy was changed late in development? Or maybe it was always meant to be a cat, but the designers really messed up the proportions. Who knows. | |
