I don't get the whole Prime decendent thing. How does a Transformer become a decendent?
why did the fractions changed their names? |

The 2nd one however, I believe they renamed themselves after they upgraded themselves to be more energy efficient. Kinda like Transformer Hybrid cars Quote:

As to the faction name changes, in the eons between the end of G1 and the start of BW the Transformers race evolved. They became more and more fuel efficent, abandoned lasercores in favor of sparks and downsized their bodies. At some point, it would seem, both sides had changed enough in both physical make-up and spirit to warrent new identifiers. Hence the new faction names.
Over the course of the series they refer to the differences in technology often enough to make one believe things have changed a lot over time. |

There are no fathers etc, so no uncles or Aunts (sorry rattrap). Brothers have been explained as a split spark, or some sort of identical models made at the same time...but the term brother is often used in the non-literal sense too (like when Prime called Megatron brother in the 2007 movie) |
