Seiyuu choices

Theoretically if there is a new japanese Transformers series being worked on right now, which seiyuu groups/pairs would you chose?

Nobuyuki Hiyama, voice of Guy from GaoGaiGar and Viral from Gurren Lagann. You put that guy in anything and it becomes amazing.

He also voiced Skyfire in Super Link, I believe.

Don't want to come off as a total jackass (but probably will), what's wrong with calling these good people 'voice actors'? Or is it particularly 'hip' to call them seiyuu just because they're from Japan/voice anime?

From now on I will start calling voice actors stemmeskuespiller! Awesome!

Im interested in people's reasoning for this, because it's something that makes no sense to me - without trying to start a war here, mind you.

Seiyuu should be greatly revered. In fact, seiyuu from Transformers is the reason why I'm into many anime such as Bamboo Blade, D Gray Man, Gravion, and Magic Knight Rayearth.

I understand a voice actor can do a magnificent job and you come to respect his work (or become interested in other work he has done). I think we can all relate to that - Peter Cullen is of course still the pinaccle of Transformer voices, not per se because he is the best, but we all remember and love him as Optimus Prime.

Still, that doesn't really answer my question, which was: why call these people with a specialized name? As far as I know, seiyuu is just the Japanese word for a voice actor...

I am awarethere is a whole subgroup of non-Japanese people/teenagers that think Japan and anime is superhip and start to see everything made in Japan as 'better', resulting in things like..oh, I dunno, calling 'voice actors' 'seiyuu'. So I was wondering if there is a reason these people have a specialised job description or if it's just another foney attempt to sound 'elite'.

Saying these people 'should be greatly revered' is sound kind of scary...

edit: err, yup, I guess I am kind of giving the intention of crossing the jackass-line. Sorry if it may offend someone. but still, I'm highly interested in the question why!

people call japanese voice actors "seiyuu" for the same reason they call japanese cartoons "anime".

to highlight the cultural differences unique to the japanese version of whatever.

it may not seem like a big deal to you or me, but in japan, voice actors are very serious business. they warrant big press events announcing which actors a certain show will have, they have massive fanbases rivaling those of traditional actors, and many young people worship them on the level of popular musicians.

I don't realy keep track of specific actors. as long as they get the job done and do it well, I'm happy. don't need to know their names.

only a few really stand out to me, like the above-mentioned Nobuyuki Hiyama. I'd know that scream anywhere. can't imagine how much cough syrup that man has to chug every day. and then Norio Wakamoto, who I was really happy to hear in Galaxy Force as Flame Convoy, although my favorite role of his is easily Onsokumaru in 2x2=Shinobuden.
