Personally, I'm a Starscream fan because he, more than any other character, brings a smile (and usually a laugh) to my face with his antics. He's the comedic relief, except he's a villian. In my opinion, he's easily the funniest character in G1.
I think its just fun that they didn't create the character as the stereotypical second in command villian but rather gave it a fun twist. | |

His sacrifice is amazing and tear-jerking. I really, really love Armada Screamer.
I love all other Screamers too. But mainly Armada Starscream. Bless 'im. | |

Starscream is one of the most beloved because he was one of the few characters actually pushed onto the audience by the show's writers.
Prime, Megs, Starscream, Bumblebee, Soundwave, and few others reached far more screen time than many others. Therefore, their marketing made them more memorable.

(Er, the "yaoi" fangirl, at least.) And some of them want a lot more than pics of them just...making out. But let's not go there...  Although I shouldn't talk. I've obtained a few "weird" pics of Megatron whilst browsing sites and have them still sitting in the dark recesses of my hard drive but most are for comedic purposes or plain old WTF! factor.
