My 2 year old daughter Madison was there as well and she wanted one too(she loves TF's, probably thanks a lot to me) The woman at the register asks Madison if she would like a girl toy instead and Maddie replies "No, I want a Transformer!" Maddie immediately recognizes her toy as Optimus Prime, and names all the other TF's on the bag. Later on I think was the moment I loved most, she walked out with her Optimus and transformed him all by herself, I think I actually felt a tear roll down my cheek. It brought me back 20-some odd years ago when I held my original G1 Prime for the first time. Being a parent is great!! Thanks for reading...

He knows saturday is Transformers cartoon day, when we are "hunting" for new figs he sees Bumblebee and Prime and always says "Daddy I got that Bumblebee and Optimus at home!"
Yeah kids are fantastic!
We were at my buddy's 30th bday party and I brought my son and when one of my other friend's asked how old he was and random questions it went exactly like this:
"Hey your the little guy your Daddy talks about all the time, your Daddy loves you very much! How old are you now?"
""I'm 3!"" *holds up 3 fingers*
"Who's your favorite hero?"
""Spider-Man, and my Daddy like Superman!""
"Do you like transformers like your daddy?"
""YEAH! I like Bumblebee and my Daddy loves Optimus Prime!""
*sniff* I'm so proud! |

I know the feeling, I'll be 32 this year and while I don't have kids of my own yet (still hashing that one out with my fiancee), I do have a 6-year-old niece and a 8-year-old nephew (he'll be 8 in August). If you simply ask them what I like more than anything (other than my fiancee), they quickly shout, TRANSFORMERS! lol
I've been teaching them the ways of the Transformers since they were in a playpen bouncing up and down and making googly noises. A few years ago, I gave them my entire VHS collection of Transformers (some of the Rhino stuff and the older stuff I got when I was a bit younger--along with some I videotaped back in the day). To this day, they LOVE Transformers, both the toys and the shows. My nephew is big on the old school Dinobots (especially Grimlock) and my niece thinks Bumblebee is cute (both the old school BB and the Animated one). My nephew loves getting some of the toys and playing with them--I gave him his first ever Transformer........ G1 Sideswipe! His most recent one I got for him was Classics Grimlock. He's looking forward to a few of the Animated toys and the Universe Classics. Recently, we sat and watched Transformers: The Movie (animated)--which I saw when I was about 10 years old--he loved every minute of it (but he got pissed when Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Prowl died). He laughed when Galvatron killed Starscream. lol
It's a little harder to keep the niece interested in them, since she loves the girly stuff, but she's still a fan. Even if I never have kids of my own, this has been great sharing this stuff with my niece and nephew--they have the same enthusiasm I had as a kid for the Transformers. They both LOVED the live-action TF movie and are looking forward to TF2.
Thanks for sharing the story, bro. Good read! |

Can't wait to get my nephew (he turned 1 some months back) onto Transformers myself. NGW on Steam |
