i was reading on here and i looked that the guy's sig where it says i am leader1, this is not leader one, and it showed a pic of armada leader one in vehicle mode and i instantly thought, hey that is drillbit (i think that is his name)

is cybertron metroplex's minicon a repaint/remould of armada leader-1?

From what I understand, it is a completely new mold that is based off Leader-1 in some ways.

And that was Tony_Bacala's sig.

No. It's like Soundblaster1 said, he's just very similar.

Yep, some very similar design elements, but it's a new mold. Drillbit is bigger than Leader-1 as well

Every so often Hasbro will take one existing mold and essentially remold every part, that is use the existing engineering as a template for a new figure. It's a cost cutting move like repainting and remolding is, though to a lesser extent. This is how we got Cybertron Hardtop, based on Energon Sledge, and Energon Starscream, based on G2 Smokescreen.

"Remolding every single part" is what gave us K-9 and Dark Crumplezone.

The likes of Cybertron Hardtop, Armada Mini-Con Swindle etc. are simply based on the same basic design.

Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.

As Aaron Archer said back in 2003, retooling every single part ends up being an entirely new toy, so it isn't practical if one is using the term 'retool' in the strictist traditional sense of changing parts of an existing tooling. So more accurately, it is designing all new parts for a basic transformation that has been used before.
