Guys, I'm an art teacher and I can already tell you - my kids are drawing Transformers of many different spheres on their own already.

The decepticons, the darker they are, the better, it's more intriguing and it keeps you interested in the story.

And did Nevermore answer the question, Nope!

The Starscream vs Megatron dynamic was strong but I think I actually prefer the Autobot characters as a whole. Really distinct, fun characters include Prime, Grimlock, Jazz, Blaster, Tracks, Hotrod, Arcee, Kup, even a bot like Grapple had an interesting backstory.

Lets see. Compairing the most iconic characters, which side has the most.

Autobots:
1. Optimus Prime
2. Bumblebee
3. Grimlock
4. Hotrod

Decepticons:
1. Megatron
2. Soundwave
3. Starscream

I think the Autobots win by a small margin.

For me I'd have to say the Autobots. Most of the G1 Decetpticons had one dimensional oafish personalities to me.

Let's compare the two sides:

AUTOBOTS:

- Prime - Selfless Leader
- Bumblebee - Token Little Guy
- Mirage - Blue-Blooded ponce
- Tracks - Pouff
- Huffer - Pessimist
- Hound - Hippy
- Cliffjumper - Short-tempered
- Jetfire - Atheist
- Ironhide - Trigger-happy
- Ratchet - Pacifist
- Red Alert - Paranoid
- Prowl - Prick
- Grimlock - Moron

DECEPTICONS

- Megatron - Power-obsessed
- Starscream - Traitor
- Skywarp - Trickster
- Soundwave - All the personality of a stump
- Rumble - Street punk
- Dead End - Depressed
- Swindle - Blackmailer
- Dirge - Always dies

Autobots SEEM to have more, but they simply outnumber the Decepticons. I think they both have cool characters.

Something to keep in mind is that the Autobots almost always outnumbered the Decepticons. When I was a kid (yes I rooted for the Decepticons) I always used to get mad that it seemed the Autobots always outnumbered the Decepticons. I remember yelling things at the tv like "Go get Devastator or those other jets!" Never seemed to work.
