I guess it kind of resembles Barricade. Almost.

But Hell, I'm gonna paint my truck black and white and slap a red and blue lightbar on top of it. I don't want to impersonate a cop, I just think it looks cool.

    Dammit where's my rolleyes smiley!?!

The Las Vegas authorities need to calm the @#$% down!!! The guy put the word Transformers all over the car, doesn't have a light bar and has a giant decepticon symbol on it. Anyone that mistakes this Mustang for a real police car needs to go back to kindergarten.

if he was in california the car would be crushed by now. if you think of police as robotic law enforcers that look like humans you get california. so funny threatening him with a "ticket." beware the ticket! they say ticket and he mentions prison; odd but not out of the realm of possibilities. other people have impersonated police to commit crimes? why didn't they show us some examples? damn police state, barricade would fit right in :)

edit: come to think of it, i've seen a lot of dark cars with white doors here, maybe it's just that big sticker that says POLICE on the door. i would think that anybody who lives in that paticular city would know what their local police cars look like.

I think it looks great - and I think that guys is an awesome dad - but yeah, this is a dodgy area.

Light bar or not - it says "POLICE", and that, coupled with the color, is what people focus on. I hope they can find a middle ground on this that makes everyone happy if it is determined that he can't do this.

Not all police cars have lightbars, but will still be black and white and say police across the side. First amendment my ass, he painted it to look like a cop car and drives it around. I'm pretty sure that's not legal in a lot of places.

Ok, fine, you can argue he's trying to make his kid happy or whatever and it's not going any harm. What do you do about the next jackass who does the same thing with his car, then rents a cop costume and drives around claiming he wants to look like the hologram driver from the movie?

Just because it says transformers across it, people aren't going to see that. They're going to see a black and white car with "POLICE" and a shield looking emblem on the side.

Not to mention, we don't need random idiots doing crap like that. Even if it is a one time thing, it makes transformers fans look bad.

    A lot of people...
    1. Have no idea what a Decepticon logo is, nor would be that immediately visible while driving in your own car. A lot of people would also have no idea what "Transformers" is.
    2. People are fearful to disobey what they may perceive to be a police officer and would rather not take the risk of putting themselves into further trouble. People do not always act rationally when fearful of an authority figure.

Not everyone that drives in that city is necessarily from that city. Also, it's not unheard of for a police station to change it's squad-car design; case-in-point, my local police did just that about a month ago, and there is currently a mix of the two different designs.

They may not have mentioned specific cases of people impersonating police officers to commit crime, but do they have to? How about you google search "impersonating police" and see how far from uncommon this crime is.

I don't blame them for being uneasy with this man having a car similar in appearance to a police car. Is he going to abuse his cars similarity to a police car? I'd say it's really doubtful, he certainly doesn't seem like he will. But you create a slipper slope; you can't say it's ok for one guy because "well he seems like he's nice". What's to keep other people from doing the same? People who may not be as well-intentioned as the man in the story.

He really needs to lose the big "Police" lettering on the side. It needs to be a different word. Even the Barricade clone cars that Saleen is making, don't say "Police" on the doors.

When I was a kid, I wanted the Christmas tree to stay up all year. I hated when the holidays were over and everything went back to normal but that's the way of these things; the tree comes down and you move on.

I think this is like the Christmas tree; the moment has passed. It's time to move on and remember the good times.

Nothing wrong with a black-and-white car.

Something wrong with a car that says POLICE on it.

I think he should change the details because Barricade going mighty pissed if he finds out someone's stealing his look.

Hey, how'd they get clips of the movie? OMG KRQE = Pirates!

Yeah, that was probably a dumb idea on his part. Whether or not it turns out to be technically legal, it's kinda asking for trouble. But hey, if it's really that important to him, then I guess that's his business.

Oh, and the obvious effort to throw the 'disabled vet' card out there pisses me off.

As a citizen I would be a little wary of a police car that had the motto of 'to punish and enslave'
