We probably need to look at the overall track record as well as who his adversarys were. G1 Megatron arose to power gladiator style, led the Decepticons to victory and held control over Cybertron for millenia, then Killed Optimus Prime in 2005 with is pure skill, not his fusion cannon, his greatest rival and probably the greatest Autobot ever. Beast Era Megs was a rebel who took G1 Megs name & ideas, went to prehistoric Earth, beat the Maximals, almost destroyed G1 Prime in his sleep, took G1 Megs spark, then lost it all, Took over Cybertron, became Cybertron for a little while only to loose it to a couple Maximals & a plant. G2 Megatron: Tricked Cobra Commander into giving him a new body then proceeded to: Kill Fortress Maximus Kill Bludgeon Rip the matrix from Prime's chest And killed a bunch of autobots in his path that I don't even remember. Then basically united the forces of the Autobots & Decepticons. 07 Movie Megatron: Was basically head of security (Lord High Protector) on Cybertron, got greedy for the allspark, killed a bunch of autobots, obliterated Cybertron, got lost in space, stuck in some ice for a few hundred years, thaws out, whoops Prime, and gets defeated by a lil dorky kid who kills him with the one thing he has wasted the last few millenia trying to get. I'm not even including the other so called Megatron namesakes. They are either out-classed or under-developed characters. Cybertron Megs was a badass, but mostly when he was Galvatron... & Devil Gigatron is Gigatron, Galvatron in the US. The winner for overall accomplishment & history, and the fact that he arose to power in the pits against multiple adversaries gladiator stlye..... HOWEVER... THIS THREAD IS ABOUT WHO WOULD SURVIVE A PIT FIGHT.... And NO Megatron is more of a brutal, bot-killing badass then GENERATION 2 MEGATRON for the WIN!! know your history...read a comic book.
But in all his travels & experience as Lord High Protector on Cybertron, he could have easily encountered comets (full of ice & debris) as well as multiple terrains on hundreds of planets. NO excuse. Movie Megs was a dumbass. Awesome, but even the hits from the human's F-22 missiles staggered him enough to be defeated, AND even the fall from the roof staggered him long enough for his reflexes to be so slow that lil ol Sam could shove the Allspark in his chest... dumbass.
There was actually an archive with all the G2 comics online for free. Might have dig deep in Google to find if its still out there.
While traveling he wasn't sight seeing, he was following the Allspark. When he landed on earth, after having the magnetic fields of the poles mess with his navigation systems, he landed in the Artic. He had no idea what in the hell ice was, he stated this. Combined with the fact that he'd been flying for thousands of years and was running low on energon (aka he was at his *weakest* during the entire span of the movie) when his super-heated body melted the ice, he was flash frozen once he touched the artic waters. And G1 (cartoon) megs didn't win his fight with Prime through skill, he did it by lying and pretending to give up. He played on Prime's gullability because he couldn't take him straight up. And he didn't just walk away from the fight either. After being severly and mortally wounded, Prime *still* whooped his butt. Though I can't really argue about G2 Megs as I've sadly never read the comics. But from how he was described he does sound like he'd put up a fight. Though the only thing I can really say is, how many Megatrons caused the auto-bots to shout "retreat" just by showing up?
For me, I like BOTH the live-action movie and original G1 Megatron. All other forms of Megatron from the other series... I'd care less.
So true. But his sheer determination is what got him f%cked up. And foolhardy lack of calculations that led him to defeat. And he has shown that he is slow to adapt to new circumstances which would have him killed rather fast in a pit fight against the other Megatrons. Flying thru space is no problem, that's why its called SPACE. He was simply following the signal from the allspark. He doesn't need a lot of thrusters just mostly avoiding the occasional gravity well and random space debris he would encounter every decade or so. THEN it also shows his weakness to magnetic fields & extreme temperatures that any other Megatron could take advantage of. I'm quite familiar with the prequel comics. He was so slow to process what he was standing on that he fell thru the ice and didn't have the reflexes to get out. A similar fate would happen easily against a G1 Megatron who uses his environment to an advantage. All points that would have Movie Megs defeated in battle. And who says he was at his weakest during the film? According to most sources, prequel comics, prequel/movie novel, the only thing keeping him from full reactivation was the fact that he was frozen and couldn't move. According to the movie novelization, he was indeed aware of what the humans were doing do him thru all those years in captivity. If he was so great, he should have had several hundred years to recharge and figure out a way to get free from the lil insignificant fleshlings. So far the movie continuiity from any media source does not confirm that the transformers rely on Energon to recharge or heal. Even Scorponok's armor begin regenerating in the areas that were not effected by extreme temperatures.
Most powerful? Movie Megs Coolest? Transmetal Megatron (as if it wasn't obvious enough by my pic and name and collection thing)
Those are the same battle skills that allowed him to conquer Cybertron for millions of years. No one ever accused any Megatron of being fair or noble in a fight. They are called Decepticons. Therefore like the Sith in Star Wars, lying, treachery, trickery and acting to achieve the desired results are encouraged. AND what were the results? Megatron basically killed Optimus Prime with his bare hands as he intended to do at the beginning of that battle. And at the end of the battle?.... As he said it himself "I STILL FUNCTION!" and could have been repaired. Prime died on the table before Astrotrain was barely out of orbit.
BW/BM Megatron all the way. He is the only one that completely took over Cybertron for a considerable period of time. He almost erased G1 Optimus Prime from history! He was so bad that the Predacons/ Decepticons had to come and stop him. They sent X-9 Ravage and he joined Megatron. The Vok sent Tigerhawk—the freaken master of the elements—to stop Megatron. I didn’t read the comic book but I’m pretty sure Magmatron lost to Megatron one on one. He cut out half of Rampage’s spark! He is the smartest, wisest, most cunning, most deceptive of the decepticons and scariest predator of the predacons. Let’s get it this straight, eventually all Megatrons and Galvatrons lose! BW/BM Megs actions potential had the most severe consequences to his transformers universe as we know it! Physically their differences in power levels are negligible and there is no adequately differentiate between there fighting prowess because they’ve had different opponents and they are from different continuities; however, we can judge their intelligence and tactical skills. BW/BM Megs is brilliant! Ali didn’t Foremen because of superior strength, endurance or skill! The key to his victory was his mind!
Flying through space for THOUSANDS of years does indeed take a lot of energy. And when things happen in an instant and you're already in a weakend state, it's hard to react as fast as you normally would. I don't think they can recharge their own energon, especially if they're frozen as such. So as such, if he was already so weak when he got on earth, I doubt sitting frozen for thousands of years more would allow him to recover, in fact it would probably only make hom weaker. Movie Megs conquered Cybertron too, and seemed to have a much stronger hold on it then G1 did. And those 'battle' skills show he's more tactical then strong. He knew his opponent's weakness and exploited it. And he was far from bare handed as magical weapons appeared all over for him to use. And I never said he was honest either, but Movie Megs felt he was so powerful that he didn't need to stoop so low as to pretend to beg for mercy. I don't think Movie Megs would be gullible enough to fall for such antics, nor be willing to show mercy to his opponent. And I'm not saying who would win in the fight, just saying Movie Megs would put up one hell of a fight
I would definately pay to see G1/G2 Megatron VS Movie Megatron battle. One demonic hell of a battle indeed. Two bad the video game developers didn't give us that opportunity. Regardless, G1 for the win.
I think some people forget BW Megs is TINY compared to the rest of the mentioned Megatrons. He'd get squashed. That being said, I go for G2 Megatron, at least he can shoot himself in alt. mode. DN
