I got fed up with waiting and bought a nice Chinese version of the entire g1 series. These may be considered bootlegs but they are darned good bootlegs, they come in a nice tin case and you get fan art and a keychain in the package also. The only drawbacks is that you have to turn off the chinese language track after every disk (15) and the disks come in plastic baggies. All of the discs fit inside a booklet.

Yeah, it's nice, but it's over double the price of the Chinese tin set. Plus you need a DVD player that plays any region. Buy the set from TF source.

    Chinese Collection

Argh, there are so many DVD to filter through. It seems that the Rhino is the best US release to collect, is that right? I was looking at the Chinese one because it is SOOOO much cheaper. I read that one episode will NOT play in english..is this true? Also will the DVDs play on a Region one player? thanks!

Not anymore. I paid between $50 & $60 for mine from ebay a while back (later part of last year), but the price has gone up since then.

Every episode in the set played fine for me. I just had to turn off the subtitles every time I watched an episode (not too much of a detraction). One DVD has some extra stuff on it which may not have an English soundtrack option. I haven't watched any of them again after watching through the entire series soon after I got it.
