Beastwars was teid directly to G1, and is the reason for some instances. (ie. one moon, stonehenge, humans evolution, how the Nemisis ended up where it was in G1, how the Ark was sticking out of the volcano, etc...)

    I think it's canon. Plus, it's official.

Also the people who ignore it because it isn't G1 and think they've made Optimus Prime a gorilla are missing out on some the best TF stories ever told.

I agree with ya...if anyone wants to ignore BM, I can understand but BW IMO is the best TF series ever...in terms of story-writing. Most entertaining and fun goes to G1! XD

Beast Wars is more credible as canon than half of G1 was.

Is Beast Wars cannon - YES!

For me the jury is still out on Beast Machines.

From what I've seen, BM sparks more debate among fans than BW does. Are you sure your friend didn't maybe mean BM?

I'd like to know just where the Constructicons came from.

    Personally, here's how I view the G1 canon;

    Transformers S1-2
    Scramble City OAV
    Transformers: The Movie (1986)
    Transformers S3
    Transformers: Headmasters (Takara version)
    Transformers: Super God Masterforce
    Transformers: Victory
    Transformers: Zone
    Transformers: Battlestars
    Transformers: Operation: Combination

Then we get into Beast Wars...

    Beast Wars S1-3
Beast Wars 2 (or "Beast Wars Second" if you prefer)
Beast Wars Special Super Lifeform Transformers (the BW2 feature)
    Beast Wars: Neo
    Beast Machines

Basically, how the Japanese continuity works (although I adhere to the American characterisation and such where appropriate), minus the manga and stuff.

I also flirt with the idea of including Transformers: Robots in Disguise at the tail end of that canon, purely because of the extra-dimensional Predacons, though I'm aware that it's not strictly tied into the G1 canon (and that there's no real proof that these Predacons are related to those in the BW fiction).

That's the continuity I follow. All other things (the Unicron trilogy, Marvel/Dreamwave/IDW comics, US Headmasters, etc.) are outwith this continuity as far as I'm concerned. I don't even want to get into things like Alternators/Binaltech/Kiss Players, Timelines or Universe!

It's ALL canon, in the sense that its all officially sanctioned by Hasbro at one time or another, though exactly which parts/series/comics connect to others and how is up for debate and personal interpretation.

You know, if you consider Beast Machines to be an alternate universe offshoot of Beast Wars, it does explain away all the shifts in character.

And it explains why BW follows the comic and BM follows the cartoon.
