Has the movie ruined The Hunt?

This occurred to me the last time I went shopping for movie figures... My Walmart had a ton of Blackout and Ratchet, two figures I've been wanting badly for my movie collection... but out of the 5 Leader Primes they had last time I was there, they were down to just one. And by instinct, I was drawn to the one that was more limited at the time. But it made me wonder...

Whatever happened to the hunt? Part of the fun for me was always heading out just for the hell of it, seeing if anything new was around. Knowing that I could go and find nothing made it so much sweeter when I found something new. But with this movie line and all of it's variations, FABs, Robot Heroes, Real Gear, there's always something else to get. Having two waves released on the same specific day took all the guess work out, you knew you could go to Walmart June 2nd and see a mountain of new stuff. It also removed another aspect, finding nothing you were after and settling for a figure you ended up loving by surprise. There's so much that it's hard to get to that point. Even most exclusives are just repacks of figures you can find everywhere, aside from Target's selection.

Does anyone else feel like this is a big downside to the movie line?

Nope, not at all.

Like, I understand where you're coming from. I still see Blackout and Ratchet's everywhere I go, along with tons of Real Gears and FAB's. Lyuckily in Canada, we get retail toys 2 months after the U.S. gets them. So, i'll be hunting for awhile. Not to mention we don't have any Target's, so no exclusives for me.

Solution : Move to Canada!

There's still a hunt. I had to do site-to-store to get the Walmart Exclusive Heroes set. Leader Megs is in short supply and it took me a few stops to find one that hadn't been mauled by kids and put back on the shelf. I still haven't found Alts Rumble & Ravage and a small group of the 6" Titaniums. There are other examples too. The hut is till on!

No, I like being able to find what I want when I want/can pick it up.

Yeah, the movie stuff is plentiful and everywhere. The only real hunt is trying to find those Peter Cullen variants. Although the Hunt is fun, I sure do wish some of the side lines had been as plentiful as the movie line.

Michael Bay may not have raped my childhood, but I think he may have molested it.

The hunt was fun when you could find what you were looking for. It was also fustrating when you know the assortment had the toy you wanted, but someone had already picked it up, especially with the case of scalpers. Sometimes it was a big waste of time and gas.

Right now, finding everything for me is great. In case of the movie toys, Hasbro may have made a lot of for the movie hype. Bad side is there is there is nothing new to hunt for. Haven't bought a new toy since the week of June 2nd.

I totally understand what you mean, but I'm happy to spend less gas on waste of time hunts.

Sometimes the hunt gets old. I kinda like being able to go to Target and find all the movie toys I want. I'm seeing the movie season as a nice vacation from the serious hunting, which is nice for a change.

Besides, if you really want to hunt something, there are still the 6" Tits (although I'm not sure if they're actually being distributed anymore, as no one's seen anything past RiD Optimus and WWI Screamer, and they came out months ago).
