Or not taped? I hear yes they were, then someone says they were taped? were SOME taped? I know the megs tape dealio. but, what about others? Im sure its been asked a million, but i searched and could'nt find anything.
You mean the book box releases? No, I don't recall them being taped. The only ones I have are Meister and Prowl and I pretty clearly don't remember them being taped. The ones before them (Convoy, Hot Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Sixshot and Megatron) were, though. As for the ones after them, I really couldn't say, but I'm pretty sure they weren't.
At first I wasn't sure what you meant by taped, so I was going to say, "No, I'm pretty sure they were never taped... I could tape some and send the cassette to you, though."
I remember book reissues 1 and 2 (Prowl and Jazz), not being taped. I remember thinking WTF? when they arrived from BBTS. Eventually they started taping the boxes though. So it's possible to have Jazz or Prowl with no tape from the factory.
The first run of Prowl and Jazz (eh, i mean 'Meister') was not taped. This may have changed when they wen't thru a second run.
The taping was fairly inconsistent across all the ones I carried during that line's life. As others have noted, the first runs of Jazz and Prowl were not taped, but laters production was. #6 Megatron was never taped. Several others I found were double-taped straight from factory-sealed cases, something I was able to verify with some other sellers at the time. It was odd, but it basically means they forgot to put something in the boxes the first time around, and had to reseal them after fixing it.
there are inconsistencies with TFC01 and TFC02. Some are, some aren't. TFC06 (Megatron) is not taped on the outside on the box, but is when you remove the tray.
the convention reissues and the direct reissues did, the first wave of the first two Bookstyles were not taped. This being the first run of Jazz and Prowl. Everything else is taped.
