The internet isnt a country club, it doesnt have a code of conduct, therefore what's "acceptable" is a personal preference. Having a webcomic doesnt make his opinion more acceptable than yours, just more open.

ah yes, I cant wait for the webcomic about people who take webcomics personally

A blind man comes into a supermarket. He grabs his seeing eye dog by the tail and spins him in the air, above his head. A clerk comes up to him and asks him: "Can I help you sir?"
The man simply replies: "No, was just looking around."

I think this is funnier than that "comic strip". That says a lot about what I thought of it, doesn't it?

Call me when he makes something other than an illustrated discussion board thread. Preferably something funny, but I'm not holding my breath.

Which Alternator? The only ones I can think of that use translucent plastic in their legs are the ones with window in their legs.

    Remember "netiquitte"?

While this Shortpacked din't put me into hysterics, I did get a chuckle out of it. What's with all the attacks on Walky? Since when did he become the new Pat Lee? Most of the posts in this thread are downright absurd. Many many cartoonists use their work as an outlet for commentary, almost like their own opinion column. If you don't care for that type of comic, then don't read it.

Oh, and he should have thrown "photoshopped" into the mix of words. :rolleyes2

Not 'funny' per se, but absolutely right.

I assume he's referring to the fact that, depending on what color is used, Alternator's plastic can be seen through. That's why Tracks was released in blue instead of the planned yellow, cos the yellow was see through

It's true... this isn't much more than a short fan-bitch illustrated. So yeah... it lacks a punchline. But lots of comic strips do this... whatev.

I do agree with his point. There are lots of ways to detract or criticize toys you don't like without resorting to tired cliches that are easy to undermine.

Some of the toys since Armada are a bit cartoony, and often excessively brightly coloured. In a lot of cases, I don't even mind this, but I agree that they are a long way removed from the more more delicate replicas we got in early G1. It's nice when they go back to more realistic cars and more sedate colour schemes, though at the same time, I don't mind when a toy embraces its "toyness".

Playskool... Happy Meal... those are thrown around wayyyy to much. I'm not sure if I can think of any recent TF of any size class that deserves that comparison. You want Happy Meal, you should take a closer look at some of those later G1 figures! Throttlebots, Sparkticons... heck even a lot of the Scramble City stuff. Talk about bright colours, limited articulation, cartoony alts and simplistic transformations! :)

And to be fair, he posted that this is a 5 strip week, meaning this is just a setup to a larger deal, which may well turn out to be funny.
The man isn't a fool, he is just as aware of his shortcomings as the rest of us, and considering this is the third time he's touched upon this "issue", I expect that to be something that will be poked fun of in the next couple days.

This comic is snarky and passive aggressive.

Felt more like "in case you weren't aware of TF messageboard discussion cliches here you go".

Which is redundant given the target audience. :lol

He really needs to read VG Cats to get an idea on how to give commentary AND be hilarious.

Why do people still feel the need to post that guy's comics? They're not funny, and exactly what WhiteMocha called them- an illustrated blog. He might be able to mix commentary with humor, but it hasn't happened yet.

Have you ever tried to converse with him on Allspark? It's impossible. The guy thinks he's some kind of celebrity because he makes a comic about toy collectors.

    Yes. Yes he is.

You do realize his problem isn't against people who hate the toys, right? It's against idiots who only know how to spout off buzz words to explain why they hate them. It happens a lot. Hell, the happy meal comment was just used earlier today.

Regardless of whether you think the strip was funny or not, it's a valid complaint.

I disagree. His problem is with anyone whose opinion differs from his own, esp. those who dare to let him know it.

Uh huh. Explain to me where you've gotten such an idea. I've only seen him make fun of those that act like idiots.

Walky is an idiot himself and constantly tries to bring the ones who don't think like him to his level. He's been playing that little game with his "friends" for years. I think I created the word "allsparkation" because of him. Pretty much anything he posts is worthy of being an allsparkation. The guy's really convinced he's the shit.

    ***EDIT***

Bashing of other boards is not permitted here.

No, I got banned (surprise). The Allspark is dying anyway, so it's no big deal.

The dude yelling at the guy for calling them Happy Meal Toys reminds me a lot of you, dude. :D

I haven't read any of the thread, because I'm almost sure it's four pages of bitching, moaning, and whining, but I think he was trying to get across one point. People use those generalizations too loosely.
