I hope after the movie we will see Alternators come back in one way or another. They are the only line that really keeps my interest. I definitely think we will see repaints over the next years whether done in a Universe type line or not. I would be happy if they made new alts and sold them through some of their coleector based outlets. I think they could get away with making new molds and sell them through online retailers and comic shops. Sure, they may have to hike up the price another 10 bucks each but I would be more than willing to pay $30.00 each. Espeacially, considering some direct market toys like DC Direct figures are $15 a pop and aren't nearly as cool or complex as alts.

Actually, I would prefer they keep the BT line going but...who knows? It looks like with some of the recent E-Hobby exclusives they are trying to rethink the market for them. I just really want a die-cast Mirage and I could rest peacefully.

    ALTS/BT's FOREVER!!!

Yeah. How DARE they not keep forcing retailers to stock toys that don't sell! We NEED Alternators, who cares if Hasbro makes a profit off them or not!

Also, let's jump to premature conclusions about "BotCon exclusives"!

Alts arn't coming back. If Classics aren't profitable enough to return then Alts don't have a chance. The larger Titaniums look like they are deaths door as well.

Well, if Alts do come back Ironhide, Ratchet, and Trailbreaker are my top choices for new molds. For repaints I'd like to see Frenzy of course and a Steeljaw or Cheetor repaint of Jaguar Ravage.

They've only sratched the surface of G1 posibiliies. Blurr, Kup, Wheelie, Bumblebee and so on. There's still alot to work with. I'd love a Lazerbeak Alt. There's alot of potential for Alt bots from other lines too. Armada Hot Shot, RiD X-Brawn come to mind. That might be fun. Still, if Alts keep going, I may call it quits at some point. It's been costly for me to maintain my status as an Alt completist.

Classics was a filler line :rolleyes2 , a substitute main line before the movie line. Comparing Classics to Alts. is like comparing apples and oranges.

    Yay a mathematics equation!

If Alternators is so popular, then why do they not sell?

Why do we still have Meisters and Tracks (in bubble packaging) with Skids and Sunstreakers still sitting on shelves?

Why am I the only person in my town to buy Ravage and Rumble?

Alternators is NOT popular. Collectors, maybe, but not with the rest of the purchasing world.

I wish I was the only person in town to buy Ravage and Rumble, they were here a few weeks ago, and now they're all gone.

I see lots of Ricochets and Skids clogging the shelves.

Not just the purchasing world. It looks like the retail world isn't that fond of them either. I have three Wal-Marts in my town (well, technically one is in a suburb, but it's still within easy driving distance) and not a one of them is stocking Rumble and Ravage2. My guess is they've learned the same lesson that Target and TRU has and decided that the new Alts would just sit around gathering dust like the old ones.

Its not safe to say that yet.
Remember a year ago, we all thought nemesis prime was the last Alternator. We were wrong. granted, there has only been two released since then, but Rodimus is on the way. We might see more later on as exclusives, or a full revival.

Last year isnt the only time that the alternator line has seemed to be "dead" either. that's happened a few times.

I can see Frenzy becoming the SDCC '08 exclusive...beyond that I don't think I'd actually want too many more out of the current molds...Blurr out of Mirage (Use the classic Ford GT light blue with orange striping) would be the only other one I think I'd buy personally.

I wouldn't say they are NOT popular, maybe in some area's they dont sell as good as in others.
I do believe that they do appeal to the "older" crowd and not the little kids that run you over in the toy stores to get to the TMNT, Power Rangers or any Disney movie stuff
Where I live, I'd say they are pretty popular, Rumble and Ravage have been long gone, and the only warmers I see are Rico, Tracks, and Jazz/Skids on occassion, and I blame this on Hasbro for case assortment, not because they aren't popular,.... but thats another issue for another thread.

Edit: And I hope they do come back to retail, maybe after the movie other car manufacturers will jump to the chance to be Alternator'd

I can really see them coming back after the movie. older people are going to be brought back into transformers (and some ocming in for the first time), and alternators could be a big hit with them.

I really hope so, but the realist *ahem* pessimist in me thinks the best we can hope for is a few exclusives here and there.
