both scourges not only look wonderful, but who cares about poseability when you can make it spew forth the wonderful original transformation sound? :p

that said, wingsaber, jetfire, def red alert all three kick ass too. I didn't like menasor as he hardly HAS a transformation.

    Hi Netkid,

I loved your detailed reasons for NOT buying Menasor. I have NEVER read such a detailed analysis.

I'm going to be brave and attempt to buy one. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I will be able to examine the three problems that you noticed. It's going to be difficult for me to discover those problems without opening the sealed box.

    Wish me luck!

None of the Ultra molds from Cybertron are particularly complex. Most of them are bordering on simple. Classics Prime is probably marginally more complex than any of them. My vote however would go to CD Red Alert, of failing that Jetfire/Sky Shadow.

Hm..you guys like Cryo-Scourge? I was never convinced by the color scheme. I do own Scourge and yes, the toy itself is awesome. XD
If I have to pic a favorite that will be Menasor, seriously, its flawless, no matter where you look. XD

Nothing wrong with my MENASOR at all - Tight limbs and snug-fiting parts all round. Love the guy myself....

Hmm. What's the mold problem? Is there a piece of plastic keeping the parts from going together? You might be able to sand that off. The stripped and split screw holes might be filled with J.B.Weld epoxy, then redrilled. I've fixed other stuff this way, and I believe the plastic is ABS, which should stick to J.B. Weld.

(J.B. Weld is just a metal-filled epoxy that auto parts stores sell. It's nice stuff which mixes well and seems a bit thinner than some epoxies, but I think any filled epoxy would do.)

(Of course, returning it as defective would probably be a wiser course, but you might not be able to find another Menasor at the store for a replacement).

I'm amazed that so many people are recommending Menasor too... I don't think much of him, and when he came out it seemed like everybody hated him. Weird.

His alt mode sucks. I mean really. His robot mode is cool, though I'm not big on the drill and clamp instead of hands.

My pick would be CD Red Alert (if available)... probably my fave Ultra from Cybertron. Realistic alt mode, moderately complex transformation, some neat gimmicks, weapon integrates into vehicle mode, good articulation all around, a tough military look... plus he's just fun to transform back and forth.

The giant missile is a bit of an overstatement, but I have a more realistic block of rocket pods on his launcher arm right now that I got from a dollar store missile truck. It actually slides right on with no mods necessary. :)

Failing that, I'd go for SkyShadow... I like that figure a lot, though I'll confess there are some issues with his robot mode. some awkward limits on his posability, and a large gap in his torso that really shouldn't be there.

To go against the grain here, I strongly advise against Wing Saber, even if he's not there, because as an individual toy, he's a load of horse shit. I own the shiny japanese version (which is alot better looking than the crappy Hasbro version), and its one of the worst toys in the line. His robot mode isn't very posable, he's fragile, and his alt mode has alot of undercarraige junk.

If you don't have Prime, there is no reason whatsoever, WHATSOEVER, to get Wingsaber.

Cybertron Defence Red Alert is (in my opinion) the best Ultra in the line, and one of the best toys in the line. He's severely underrated. He has a fairly realistic alt mode (so long as you remove the giant missile :p ); a true 'upgrade' of a character that keeps the same design style and functionality of the previous body more so than CD Hot Shot and Scattorshot did; has quite good articulation and his gimmicks aren't useless. Plus he's big and looks like he can beat you up.

    EDIT: Clarified.

I have to completely agree with everything stated here. And I will also say that I don't really think Wing Saber did all that much for Prime's look - I actually prefer his original super mode.

CD Red Alert is IMO the ONLY ultra worth getting. I had Scourge, Jetfire, Skyshadow, Wing Saber and Dark Scorponok. I ended up selling all of them except for CD Red Alert, and I skipped Menasor outright because of all of the QC issues and the fact that I did not really care for the mold all that much.

However, Dark Scorponok is cool if you really like the colors and don't have the original version of the mold. So yeah, I would say the only ones worth getting if you are not a completist are CD Red Alert, and then after that Dark Scorponok.

I'm confused....why do you say that? Not gonna bash, just curious. I always thought that Cybertron Prime was one of the best Primes, if not THE best Prime.

I think he was referring to Wing Saber.

Edit: My vote would be for CD Red Alert as well.

Yeah I meant Wing Saber shouldn't be bought if you don't have Prime. Edited now.

CD Red Alert FTW, alot of bang for your buck, and if you can, get CD Hot Shot and Scattorshot, too, also two of the best figures of their sizeclass. Hasbro/Takara really went into town with those three guys. In fact, if you have any of three, you must get the others, as they complement each other.

I just went to TRU and bought Wing Saber. Last one on the shelf and I have to say I am amazed! I love his robot mode and the Prime mode is outstanding! I just dont like his alt. made as much because of the bottom but that is still cool! Buy it, play with it, enjoy it!
