I know there are mixed feelings about this toy, but I'm left wondering that with the upcoming release of Skywarp (and potentially T-cracker, though there is nothing to confirm such), that if MP-3 will get another go around. I think with as many "G1" repaints we've seen of him that Takaratomy would at some point release a more "anime-ish" version of him at some point (like the rumored "S.T.A.R.S." exclusive), but also if he'll get a second run as is. Thoughts?
I think an anime colored one is somewhat of an inevitability, even if it takes a couple of years. As for a straight second run, I don't know about that. It is my understanding that MP-03 didn't sell as well as expected, so I'm not sure that's necessary. A lot of places still have the first one in stock. Why would they make more when there's still plenty of the first production run still available in the market?
How about forgetting about re-using and repainting MP molds and getting back to the Alternators/Binaltech figures that haven't been repainted or reused? Like the Honda Civic, Jaguar XK, Scion xB, Ford Mustang and a couple others? Come on, finish the line entirely and use up the remaining fodder. ;-) Honestly, even though we're getting the music line with him in it, I'd still want a MP scale Soundwave or other significant figure. I'd like to see Rodimus Prime, Arcee, Grimlock (T-rex mode) and other "significant" figures that most people would instantly recognize with only a brief knowledge of Transformers.
skywarp doesnt look like his normal self, I dont see why they'd decide to do starscream again. Were both used twice. BroadBlast in japan, and Wheeljack.
Well, I guess my only rationale for this was seeing that many places still had MP-1 still in stock when Takaratomy decided to make a second run of him in conjunction with the release of MP-4. I could easily see them doing something similiar with the release of a MP-X (X = # for an "anime-ish" version should one be made). Yeah, I know it's exploitation, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it. I'd love to find a store that is overstocked with MP-3 so I could actually get one at a cheaper price. Though it didn't do as well, I was thinking that many places were running low or either out of stock. Sounds like I'll need to do some shopping soon. Now, I just need some green . . .
I like the name one member here gave him that's just taken off. StarsGREEN. Fitting, considering his seagreen color. WHY couldn't they've used a flat gray color instead? WHY?!? I still think it looks like someone blew chunks over him, and didn't clean him up afterwards.
It's possible that a second run would sell better as the colors were a deal breaker for a lot of people.
I'm holding out for MP03 to be released in G2 toy-accurate colors. ---- --- If they released a stronger-plastic version in show-accurate colors, I'd buy one.
MP-03 Should be released in cartoon colors some time down the road. I don't remember a second run of MP-03 being run once the figure was out like the rumor of a second run of Megatron. I don't think MP-03 was a big hit with fans I know I did not buy one and do not plan on buying one. I do plan on getting Skywarp and Thundercracker (depends on colors though) once he is released.
i hate the mp star scream colors and from the one my buddy has(imo) the toy is easy to break and just plain looks bad with the way he transforms all that stuff hanging all over the place(i,e) rear stabalizers feet look funny. so as far as i,m concerned i will never wast my money on something i may accidently break
Second run? Well, there were a lot of collectors put off by his colors. Which might mean he didn't sell so well. Which, in turn, would hurt any chance he had at having a second run. But, I would SOO consider a cartoon-inspired repaint of him!
I really want to buy Skywarp, but I'm going to wait to make sure the shitty quality of Starscream didn't hold over. If they fix the problems and re-release it in the correct colors I'll buy Starscream in an instant. Thundercracker too.
The quality isn't up to par, and the paint scheme leaves a lot to be desired, but all in all, I really like him. I'm a big screamer fan thoug...so maybe i'm just biased... I don't transform him much though...worry about breaking him...
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there won't be a second production run of MP-3's. BUT. Instead we'll all get an anime accurate color scheme that'll include the: a. CROWN (as indicated by the slots on Screamers head) b. CAPE (cause capes F'N rock no matter who's wearing em) c. SHOULDER BLING (b/c mounts are shown on the actual mold) In short we'll get a movie accurate Starscream sometime within the next two years. Who's with me?
I prefer another name I've seen here: Greenscream . Such an ugly color. I've considered buying him just to have the mold, but with the news of Skywarp being MP06, I'll have a reason to get the mold. I'm also holding out hope that we will get a complete MP Starscream in the right colors, but I don't know that it will come that soon. I'm hoping MP07 will be a new mold, followed by MP08 Complete Starscream.
I'll pick up a SS anime repaint if it is "complete" like MP4 was, or if Hasbro does one like they alluded to at bc last year. If that doesn't happen I probably won't buy just a straight repaint except for SW and TC if he is released. I'm pleased with my SS and haven't broken it despite plenty of tfing. Just wish he'd stand up without the stand.
Well, I guess I'm having a hard time trying to justify spending $100+ on this toy. If he were the same size as Convoy/Prime/Magnus and Megatron, I don't think I'd have a problem. But he's drastically smaller. Also, the mixed reviews I've read on his brittlelness, etc. have turned me off quite a bit. Personally, I LOVE the non-cartoon "accurate" color scheme. I'm just trying to weigh whether or not to spend $100 on this guy or not . . . If I decide to, then I've got to budget for him (and now Skywarp). I guess I have less of a problem with spending out for MP-5 and MP-1 or 2 (if I would have had to) than MP-3 based on his size and supposed brittleness.
To be honest, I hope an anime-colored Screamer isn't released but knowing my luck, someone will smell a dollar-to-be-made and release one anyway. I love the Masterpiece colors and hope that they are used again for other Starscream figures in other lines. Just the thought of seeing Masterpiece SS in anime colors makes me cringe and yeah, I know that people have already repainted them. While the kitbashers did a good job painting the figure, I don't care for the color scheme. Eh...to each his/her own.
