Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I know a guy who basically covered the entire cost of attending with the profits of selling a complete extra set (Most the profit coming on the toys purchased at the show, not so much the box set toys).

On the other hand, I think there's quite a few Botcon toys that sell for less than they cost at the show, so you could get burned a bit.

 

So just to reconfirm or clarify, do we ever usually know what the bonus figure(s) will be before the actual convention is underway, or is that something you only find out after you get there?

More to the point, are people only able to get extras if they bring someone with them so that they're not technically walking around with multiples? I see a lot of people begging other people who are going to get them the attendee figures, but I have to wonder just how easy or hard it is to do.

 

That kind of stinks, I was hoping to know who they are before the convention, I'm not good at being patient.

 

Every single toy from 2005 and 2006 showed up in test shot form on ebay. There's a good chance you'll know what the toys will be, you just won't know the prices or how they'll be paired up (i.e., which one is the freebie, which ones are the larger two pack, and which ones are the smaller two pack).

 

So you guys are pretty certain that there will be that many additional figures? I have no reason to doubt you - just asking since that seems to be a lot pulled from Classics. But I suppose if they decide to just repaint more defunct lines as they did with the Devastator set, it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

Fairly. Vangelus is correct...the precedent with FP is to offer additional figures. In 2005 it was one basic with Primus attendees, two basics in a small bundle, and one basic and one deluxe in a large bundle. In 2006 it was one basic with Primus attendees, two basics in a small bundle, and one basic and one Ultra in a large bundle. They do similar things with the Joe conventions. No reason to think otherwise here.

Also, if you read the Botcon 2007 PDF brochure, the third paragraph on the right column on the first page alludes to additional convention exclusives that remain a secret until the convention, when you can purchase them separately. This clearly isn't the box set, which isn't a secret. So again, yeah, I'm quite confident there will be more exclusive toys available.
