I remember all the one I bought being $30. Unless Ops was $30 and they sold the smaller at that price. I can't remember.

I would love to see some new molds. In the last few months I have gone back to getting the G1 characters.

After getting the Hasbro Astorotrain and Soundwave, and the Takara Hound,Megs, e-hobby Blitzwing and Insecticons and finding a KB Sideswipe still sitting around for $15, I feel I have run out of things I really want. I usually pass on repaints. And I don't really care to have Blaster, Kup, or even Perceptor (funny cause I liked him as a kid but now I say "meh")

I would love to see Wheeljack, Mirage, Devastator and especially the Dinobots.

Thanks for the info. That being said, does anyone here have an original Soundwave and a reissue that could be compared? I'm curious as to the differences in dimesions between the two, if there are any.

It's definitely too bad the reissues are on hold...but on the other hand personally there's probably nothing I'd be too interested in...maybe Trailbreaker since I'm missing some parts...but otherwise the only way I'd be getting them is if they reissued some of the later G1 Japanese stuff. I'd die from joy if I ever see they're reissueing LioKaiser, Overlord, or better yet, the Dino Cassettes.

After Takara merged with Tomy, they took a step back from TF's. They pretty much let Hasbro run the show.

Even so, the market is clearly there. The recent TRU Primes that are sealed are now hitting over $100 on Ebay. You can't even think about nabbing a #0 for under $200. other versions are high as well.

It certainly warrants another short run, much more so than the Megs #6 got.

Maybe in time for the movie, they'll do it.

I wouldent mind a few more book case reissues. There are still alot of characters that could be made. and its always nice to have that minty reissue one to the vintage one.

The TRU Soundwave reissue was the Soundblaster mold. I don't have my TFC Soundwave handy, but is it actually a Soundblaster mold also?

Those guys need to seriously do something about Artfire. Reissue him I say!
(Or Hasbro could just do for us... Or at least make an attempt.)

I'd love Takara if they did a run of #0. I was really excited they did a run of TFC #06, the difference between the original and the current run being absolutely nothing.

In wave 1, Prime and Magnus were $40, Hot Rod was $18. In wave 2, PMOP was $50 and Starscream was $30. Then the other autobot cars hit and the greed started and they priced them at $30 instead of $18.

    He's dead Jim.

But seriously, if we don't see anything after the movie from Takara, I don't think we will. The reissue line is dead. I think your best beat is Hasbro attempts to revive it in some way.

I wouldn't mind seeing Artfire come out either but, given how poorly Stepper/Ricochet did for both Hasbro and Takara, I just can't see Artfire selling that well. For a Hasbro reissue, in-the-know TF fans would probably pick it up, but the response from the general public is likely to be 'who the hell is that?'...which I can't see translating into purchases.

I think the problem is that they're running out of well-known, prominent characters to reissue; the kind that are likely to result in strong sales. Other than maybe Devastator or the Dinobots (the molds for which may or may not still be viable), what characters are left for Takaratomy to release that can be relied on to sell well? Maybe the remaining Seekers? It might be nice to see obscure Japanese-only characters reissued, but if more prominent characters like Kupp and Perceptor don't move, what's the likelihood that someone obscure (and likely a lot more expensive) like Overlord will?

I think Hasbro has a bit more room to manuever in this case, as they could bring over Galvatron or the Insecticons; as a $30 three-pack, I think the Insecticons would have enough recognition and be enough of a value to sell. But there's not much else. Thundercracker and Dirge tanked, so I can't see Ramjet or Thrust going anywhere and the situation would likely be the same with Trailbreaker, as Hoist didn't really move. Reissue Soundwave sold because he was a popular character amoung long-time fans, he has recognition with the general public (he's one of the three characters I always hear mentioned by people with only vague recollection of TFs) and the set was a great value for the price. Is there really anything left Hasbro could reissue that has those factors to help it sell?

Cassettes. Case closed. Just give me those. And dinobots. And the rest of the seekers. And the rest of the popular cars (who cares if they molds are broke, fix them).

    Oh and more minibots please.

Oh and can someone tell me who exactly owns the Shockwave molds? It seems like they arn't doing anything with them, couldn't Takara buy them for cheap?

I'd really like to see the rare/expensive on secondary market ones re-released (like the Insecticons, Minibots, etc).

All the first-hand accounts I read only said Wheeljack and Mirage. Sunstreaker is still a mystery.

Only if the company that owns the rights actually still EXISTS. Since ToyCo is/was a Korean company, that'd be a helluvalot legal hassle ONLY to find out who currently owns the rights to the mold, and if there IS an owner, whether it would be possible to get permission to use the mold.

And then keep in mind that the profit margin from that mold wouldn't be that huge either.

They don't need to. You WANT them to.
